PPP could be a disaster

I was reading another thread on this and the hype seems to be gathering around the webmaster forums.

Anyways a thought came to mind. What about the negative buzz?

Just imagine every FORUM will have people asking threads like

"How to stop annoying audio on websites?"
"Websites have irrating audio, how to stop it!"

And of course the Adblocking advocators will be rushing in there educating people on Adblocking software. The end result will be a spike increase in internet users installing such software. A possible huge Spike!.
And I don't have to spell out what that means for your adsense earnings etc...
    ;)

    I agree.

I have the horrible feeling that PPP will be a disaster.

PPP: Pay Per Play.... It is a 5 second audio ads that automatically play when a user visits to a site..... No click needed.... The ads will play in each 3 minutes....

Geez not again. And wow. The day before they go live. Anything else to help bring it down before they even get out of the gate. Incredible. If that is the case, one may want to look at sites that have talking characters. Such as Mypoints. As well as sites that use sitepal. BTW mypoints is huge and has not gone down at all. Whats the difference between these major sites and a 5 second audio? So what. 5 seconds is 5 seconds. Is it really gonna kill a website?

I'm not talking about killing a website, but about they won't pay.

Your a little ahead of the moment since they have not even opened the doors yet. Apparently the campaign starts tomorrow on February 1. So no one, especially those who are up in arms or complaining, can't and shouldn't do so after about a month or so. And by the way one cant complain until after the first initial payout.

Again one can poke and poke at a program as such. But one really needs to bite their tongue until the program swings into full action. Whereas many on this thread are already complaining about a programs opening day isnt until tomorrow.

Tsk, tsk. Sign up. Wait for the initial month or two. And if there is anything to say, say it than.

You are exaggerating! I suppose that all webmasters realize that PPP will annoy their visitors, maybe with small exceptions.

It will only take a couple days and everyone will have it blocked.

I'm sure the first time you hear it won't bother you, but if someone puts it in their header/footer and it plays on EVERY page, it will get annoying very fast.

Even worse if you have multiple tabs/windows open that each have it.

Exactly what if your surfing and visit 10 different sites and you get the PPP ads on each one. It would get annoying really fast.
I can see adblocking software increasing in use, or someone will release a FF plugin that specifically block only the PPP, (to be fair to other ad networks.) Or maby more people might take interest in learning how to use their host file.

Not everyone will have their speakers on when surfing the web. If you instruct your visitors to turn their speakers off while browsing your site. You can make money and not annoy them at the same time. It's like killing a stone with two birds.

at the end of the day its a 5 second ad its not like the million and 1 websites that play music as you enter
you dont have to hunt for the player to switch the noise off its over before you realise and they are well made clips not just noise normaly just a voiceover

i dont think there will be that much of a stink about it
