comcast -> i might probably know ur prob. I had the same things happened to me with 4 different hosting company from the established to the one sold in DP (Master Reseller). The thing is with the number of your users unique visit daily like the stats you provided, your sites must had some flood sycn attack or hotlinking attack by someone. It's a simple method to make such sites using more resources. I faced this with 4 hosting company and the solution from their sites is simple. From pushing you to take the dedicated IP until the dedicated hosting with unmetered bandwidth. This is just crap. As for the law issues, you have the right to ask for the email with full header that authorize them to delete the files from your hosting. Normally hosting company will not deleted your files for using more resources. What they will do is they will suspend or protect your sites from public view. However, if your hosting sites have the files which break their contract of agreement like having the .mp3 files, or warez link or porn pics, they have the right to delete your particular files which normally they will ask you to removed it first or they will move it manually. DO not worry too much as you have your own backup. If you have blog then you should submit your blog to a rss syndication that will take your feed asap after you finish your writing such as : http://www.bloglah.org If your content accidentally being deleted then do not worry much as you can retrieve there. For something related to the hotlinking stuff, adjust your .htaccess accordingly to prevent it from happen again. Block some IP that are always use more resources then the other. Sample for .htaccess modi to deny some IP and prevent on hotlinking for these extensions: jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp|js RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.biz/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.biz$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.biz/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.biz$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.biz/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.biz$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.biz/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.biz$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.biz/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yoursite.biz$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.biz/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yoursite.biz$ [NC] RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp|js)$ - [F,NC] <Files 403.shtml> order allow, deny allow from all </Files> deny from 64.22.110.2 deny from 85.69.236.97 deny from 24.183.101.118 deny from 64.22.110.34 deny from 195.225.178.28 deny from 66.212.28.53 deny from 74.86.121.13 deny from 151.56.93.217 deny from 72.249.25.70 deny from 64.22.107.90 deny from 66.36.243.201 deny from 66.79.163.187 deny from 71.79.213.171 deny from 72.3.240.20 deny from 66.133.116.102 deny from 24.8.79.59
I won't say they are one of the most reliable, but I do agree they won't delete normally without a reason
This is a good lesson to all of us. Backup... Backup... Backup... at least once/day if you have a big website !!! I agree with the post above, there is possibly another reason why they closed your account, maybe something related to your site topics!!!
Just an FYI to the OP, the "*" is normally used to replace letters in profanity when posting in public forums not adding to profanity i.e. "Fu***ing Bluehost deleted my account without tell me bofore" or something similar
The guy was offline for some days, didnt you read?He couldnt have done anything at that time.. This is craziness-they could have eventually turned off your website, but to delete your account....
Well I think its *GOOD* to provide a Proof before you comment something on anywebhost. I am not agaist anyone but it will help in resolving issue faster
How much bandwidth did you use? In a way I understand it.. they can't offer the 300gb or whatever they're offering now because one site could ruin it for all other sites.. hope you find a new host soon
A person can do anything.. if someone got loss or shock like this And also becoz he can't do anything now.
Not sure what you are trying to say but being an ex-sailor I'm not shocked nor offended, I just saw the asterisk (*) in the title and thought I would clarify it's use in situations like this.
Bluehost is still the best shared hosting out there but if your site gets so big that it requires a dedicated server than they have to turn your site off or they will lose customers because one site makes all other sites on the server slow down.. its only fair I guess
Bluehost reliable? Are we talking about the same company? Below is my 2 cents about Bluehost. http://inetintegrity.com/weblog/?p=1
That is disturbing news. I recently began using bluehost to start trying to learn IM and get some income streams coming in. Became disabled and of course if you are not dead the govt will not help even though it is your money you have paid in all your life. I figured IM is the only way to save my family long term. Have had a heck of a time getting started though. It is tougher than it sounds lol. I got two domains with bluehost to get started. Now, I am concerned about doing allot of work and being canceled. It is doubtful a noob like me could make anything as popular as your sites sounded though. I know I need to get some affiliate program pages up and maybe some ebook sales pages, just having some trouble getting started. Do have a paypal account. To try and save the family and home I have been writing affordable, content articles. If interested you can visit wxw.affordablecontent.phpmarketing.com. Has anyone else had problems with bluehost and should I do anything. How do I backup the whole thing, two domains and all the pages? Thanks, Don P.S. I am really sorry you lost your content, if there is anything I can do to help let me know.
