    Hello fellow Aussies,

I was wanting to register lets say www.tennis.com.au (not really) and I wanted to make a site about tennis, latest news and tournaments etc etc etc

I understand Aussie businesses can only register .com.au and must give the ABN number etc. Also the domain name must be similar to the business name and/or be associated with the type of business that is run.

My question is: Am I able to to use my personal ABN number (as I trade under my own name) to register a .com.au domain. name

Any ideas ? Are they as strict as they used to be in allowing people to register domains here in oz ?

    Thanks

Owning .com.au names are strict, but I believe that you would be able to reg if you have an ABN & are in buiness yourself. You could always just email NetRegistry or MelbourneIT support to clarrify.

I'm a sole trader and got my domain name that is the same as my business name that I registered.

You can apply for the domain name you are after and then they check it and give you a yeah (pay up) or Nay!

Smartyhost.com.au are giving cheap deals on .com.au registrations!

    Cheers
    Tim
