From an SEO point of view, the extention doesn't matter. From a resale point of view, only worth reg fee.
aren't .us domains geo-targeted to the US? In Google Webmaster, .us names are locked in as a location preference and can't be changed.
Yeah, you're pretty much excluding the only population that would care to visit such a domain name by keeping it domestic to the U.S. Not that Astanians aren't able to access it but Google for instance won't even let geospot it.
