John McCain beats Mitt Romney to take Florida Primary, and soon to drop out Rudy Giuliani will endorse McCain http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/florida_republicans;_ylt=AqqLTig4udT2yEXRGjX3C6ms0NUE Comments :-
What I don't understand is that a large % of Republicans are against the war in Iraq and are true conservatives (financially) so why don't they vote for Ron Paul? It's really depressing, actually. It shows how much control the media has over the general voting public.
Pretty good examples of the dumbed down brownshirts around here too Z. You've got Republicans who argue against conservatism, and anti-war Democrats who support candidates who won't end the war. When McCain got 41% of the anti-war vote in NH or Michigan (can't remember), I realized that the majority of people voting are too stupid to be agents of change.
That's not a very nice thing to say about your fellow ron paul supporters. Yesterday you called them liars, today you are calling them nazis? I don't disagree with you there. Just surprised that the truth is coming out.
I was referring to fascists (of course, you probably can't understand that analogy either... ). And I was referring to the Nixon Gang, not the Paulunteers.
People are generally not against the war. They're against the handling of the war. McCain risked his career supporting the surge and it worked. People trust him to finish what was started in Iraq without causing more problems. People know what Ron Paul stands for. That's why they're not voting for him.
Right, by staying there for 100 more years. Wat exactly was started in Iraq? What is the exit strategy? What were our goal going in? Have they been met? The Democrats didn't win big in 2006 because the people wanted the war handled better, and people aren't voting Democrat over Republican at a 2:1 clip in the primaries because they want better handling from McCain or Romney. My first response debunks your second statement.
I believe that the most recent polling suggests that Americans want the war in Iraq to end or be minimized but do not want an immeciate or quick pullout. I think recent polling suggested something like a 3 to 1 support of ending the war versus winning the war. Of the ending perspective some percentage would want immediate pull out while a large mass in the middle want some kind of orderly movement out of the war, though none has been articulated. I suspect if either Clinton or Obama won they would move the war effort dramatically different than Bush and move it to an end. McCain would probably continue to do things in Iraq similar to Bush. Who knows what Romney would do? That guy is more flip flop than a sandal store at the beach!
