Can a parked domain appear in the first page of search results? for example if someone types FACEBOOK SEARCH do you think my parked domain which is facebooksearch.com may appear in the first page, or it never happnes?
Yes, it's possible. But it depends on the searched terms. If they are not very popular there is a good chance to be on the first page although the name is parked. About facebooksearch.com - I can't say it will be on the first page when someone types FACEBOOK SEARCH but for FACEBOOKSEARCH it's quite possible although such searches will be rare.
I'd guess no. In fact, I kind of assumed that the registrar's parked page could have a robots exclusion, but I just tested yours and it doesn't. That being said, for that specific search term that you used in your exampled, there are 169,000,000 pages in Google's results. Unless you have compelling content on that site, I'd guess that won't happen. My follow-up question would be what benefit does this gain you if the parked page gets high for that search term?
someone listed this domain that belongs to me on sedo for $249 http://www.sedo.com/search/details.php4?domain=facebooksearch.com&partnerid=31856
I have a parked domain on page 1 of live. It also was in position 3 of google till I pointed a sitewide link to it. Not that it matters much. 90% of the traffic is strictly type in for that name. Granted, it's not highly competitive but the extra SE traffic earns me a little more $. In the last two days, that domain made me $19. The highest one day earning this month was $13. @arcojedi A better position in the serps brings more traffic.
I have a site parked at sedo. However, even writing the full name of domain, google says this is not there. I cant do much about the contents and keywords. Any advise to improve the traffic on it and make it searchable?
Parked domains rank a lot better if they have backlinks prior to the domain being parked. If need be, unpark it and build some links then repark. If it's a brand spanking new domain, then it may not have been indexed. You can always check by using site:whateverdomain(dot)com in search to see if it is there.
Thanx for the quick advise. But i am new to this and couldnt understand it quite right. Do you mean to say that i build my own page and then park it? Also, whateverdomain dot com search results in getting no linked result. Pls advise
If you want a site to rank decently in the Search Engines yet parked, try Parked.com: http://www.fka200.com/domain-parking If you need help with domain parking feel free to PM/e-mail me.
I get it, I guess. There are two ways to park a domain. One: just register and leave it parked at the registrar with their initial parked page and their ads. This means they get whatever revenue is forthcoming. Second: host a one-page with YOUR ads on the domain, but still very little content. This means that you generate the revenue for yourself. Unless the domain is a search term that almost no one is using, I can't imagine how it might rank anywhere unless you include at least minimal content or build links to it. Most of the ads that I've see on a registrar's page only benefit them.
1) You forward the name servers to the domain parking provider of your choice. 2) This is called an MFA. Sometimes there's a lack of competition which means if you own the domain for a keyword (forget if it's a well searched term or not) then you can rank at the top of the Google results. Actually just checked around two days and 2-3 of my domains that are producing decent revenue are #1 in Google--parked pages.
