Whats the best Dedicated Server host for me? Please help!

I have a site that gets about 2M pageviews a month, and runs JOOMLA.

I need you to honestly (dont sell me anything) tell me a hosting company for a dedicated server that can handle this many pageviews..

Plus I need one that can run MySql server and ALOT of querires a second, I want it to handle about 1000 people online at once making queries, 1000myslq a second. The hosting company needs to be honest and trustworthy....its great in theory, shared hosting is just too slow.

So it needs a big DB...and big RAM I think too I read somewhere?

Please don't PM or message here with your hosting packages, I really need a big one that can handle alot of traffic, and is trustworthy.
I have been drawn towards fasthosts.co.uk dedicated server plans, but open to suggestions.

If you can't suggest any hosting companies, telling me what specs I need to be looking for in the dedicated server, I know linux- thats all, and maybe 2GB RAM? would also be helpful

    Thanks in advance,

    Rupert

I suggest Softlayer.com They are a large company with high end servers located in the USA. As for Server specs I suggest dual core minimum and if you can afford an extra 30+ go with a quad core. Ram should be 2-4 GB will handle that fine. Ram is always easy to upgrade later. I suggest a 100 Mbps Port for that.

Just to be on the safe side I would recommend the following:

    • 2 x Xeon Clovertown 5310 Quad
    • 4 GB RAM
    • 2x500 GB SATA Hard Drives
    • 2000 GB Monthly Traffic
    • 3Ware RAID Controller

You asked not to sell you anything, so I won't.

Thanks for your replies, Softlayer look good and faily inexpensive.Comcenter where did you get your specs from, you can tell me websites you genuinly suggest, but just not crappy ones that your friend owns or something, because I need professional.

Plus let me know for 150$/mo is 1GB RAM good enough for me, I also have a large forum with 100k+ posts just wondering if it can handle both that and the main site? Or 2GB is the best?

Looking at softlayers options:: is this a good setup?

    Single Processor Dual Core Pentium D 930 - 3.00GHz - 2 x 2MB cache
    Ram 3 GB DDR2 667
Remote Management Reboot / Remote Console
Uplink Port Speeds 100 Mbps Public & Private Networks
Public Network Port 100 Mbps public uplink public_port
Private Network Port 100 Mbps private uplink service_port
    Public Bandwidth 2000 GB Bandwidth0
Primary IP Addresses 1 IP Address
Secondary IP Addresses 4 IP Addresses
    Disk Controller SATA Disk Controller
First Hard Drive 250GB SATA II

On softlayer i think you will have to pay +25 more for cPanel and 20+ for management because they are unmanaged so if you know nothing about dedicated servers you will probably have to pay them to manage the server.

The Xeon. Pentium D's are the older arch. The newer ones are core2duos. I am not trying to sell you anything but just so you know, you can get an 8 Core (2 - Quad Xeon 2.0) with 4 GB ram and Cpanel for around 260 with me but the offer ends on the 1st of feb. Over you budget yes but its guaranteed to handle everything you need to through at it.

Most Hosting companies offering dedicated server configurations will have some kind of package deal with the configuration mentioned above. I like walking on the safe side when making any kind of recomendations.

I am consistent with my last post, suggesting 4 GB ram, quad-core processor, and at least 2 GB bandwith (if not more).

The only dedicated server host I am allowed to suggest is this here, you can configure the package to your needs and budget.
