Negative PR and removing SERP

    Hi,

I was wondering, if an SEO can give you a good SERP and a good PR, he has the right to give you a negative SERP and PR.

For example, if I did work for you and increased your SERP and made your website SE friendly and gave you a very positive name on Google and other SE's.

I can destroy your business as well, for example, if I hate you, I can post negative reviews about your business, I can hire people to post it everywhere, I will link your website to porn and do all the negative review and spread it everywhere.

So, if someone type your keyword in Google, they will read all the negative review.

Has anyone ever thought of it?

    Hi,
you have a good point in blowing some one off, but then again its what you do, and what your intention is.
The serp part, there is really no negative, you can just get banned. Reviews can be negative or positive that doesn't matter because search engines don't comprehend neg or pos, they just see link juice. At the lowest level, you'd get your self banned from Search engines.

How could you say that? if I have hatred against any company running online, I can use different IP's and hire people to write negative review for me and I'll go post it everywhere. Google will index that.

Another thing can be done is to register a design like paypalsucks.com and market it.

Trust me, if an SEO can give you a good PR, he can also take it away!

We all have to be careful. A single negative review can be indexed by Google and destroy your business in 'some' ways

Everyone can't avoid people who likes to write negative review on you specially if it's true.

At a slight tangent, but there are marketing companies that specialise in reputation management, quite specifically aimed at removing bad reveiws from appearing high up in serps - well, not literally removing them, as they can't edit search pages, but do a campaign to have the bad reviews overtaken by good PR.

Ah, I never heard of anything like that. However, isn't this illegal? specially if the review is true.

Why would it be illegal? They aren't removing the bad link, they just find 10-20 "better" links to rank ahead of the negative stuff so when someone does a search they only see positives on the first page - how many people really click on the 2nd page of results?
