Why Do My Sub-Pages Appear for SERPS and Not My Homepage?

    Hey Everyone,

I'm having a problem with how my site is displayed in Google. The problem is:

Google seems to show the sub-pages of my site (ie. /about_us.php, /partners.php) for the key terms I am going for. My index page does not appear anywhere for these key terms. I have been doing SEO / link building to my homepage for months, so why would Google show these sub pages for the key terms and not my homepage. I do not have any duplicate content on the site. My website is www.carbodykitstore.com.

    Any guidance is appriciated.
    David

Does PR matter for placement? My "Resources" page actually gets ranked for the keywords I'm going for and it has a PR 0 while my home page has a PR 3. What do you think?

No, the pages that get ranked haven't had any SEO work done. Most of the optimization has been done for the homepage, and it doesn't get ranked. I have done long tail optimization for other pages but these do not show up for the specific keywords I am specifically trying to rank the homepage for.

Well no need to worry It happnse some time, the things you can do 1st checked your complete site and remove title n des from your resourses page ( if you are useing home page title in your resources pages ) and continue your work and only target your home page it will take some times but ur site will be up with your home page.

Note: I found you are using same title on your home page and your resourse page( http://www.carbodykitstore.com/resources.php) remove your title on that page and try to use other one.

    Best of luck

    Hey Aryan,
Thanks for the reply. I will begin changing the titles on pages so they are unique. I have the same title for many of the pages on the site. The weird thing that happens is I can do a search for my keyword and a page such as the /resources.php page appears, then I will do the same search after a few minutes and my /about_us.php (etc.) shows up in the same place as the /resources.php page was. idk...

Page rank of web pages won't be any matter for higher ranking in SERP's.
Do one thing just revised your content, it might be the duplicate one of another website for the home page only.

I didn't think it was duplicate content because I checked copyscape.com and nothing came up.

G think it's most relevant to the key terms. Sometimes G is too hard to understand.

This thing is common happened to site which is very new. This type of ranking is not stable and can be fluctuated all the times. You should expect Google to put home page in ranking instead of those page in the near further. This can happen to old site sometimes. You may see all of pages in your site got indexed including homepage but it doesn't mean your homepage has some important.

You can check this by type your full domain name in Google. If your inner page come up first or other sites which linked to your site come up first instead of your homepage, then your homepage may be very new and don't gained any trust from Google yet. You shouldn't worry about this because the page important score is moving toward on your homepage and make your homepage take place at last.

If you have some old sites (6 months +). You should see homepage come at first in search results if you type your full domain name, otherwise you may get penalized or some problem which should check it out by Google webmaster tools to investigate something might cause your homepage dropped in important (which may take your overall site ranking dropped altogether)

    - check if your robots.txt block some page from being crawled by Googlebots.
    - check if some of your page has some restricted which is not allowed Googlebots to follow.
    - check if you have some 404 page or any errors which cause your page not found by googlebots.
    - check if you have some broken links or content problem (duplicated/violated)

    :D hope this help

i think that it has something to do with the visibility of your target keywords in your sub-pages.
