Shall I name and shame?

I have paid 50% fee so far for a copywriter to do some work for me but they have been delaying there advertised deadlines, I keep messaging them and they keep telling me they are busy with other things so I have to wait.

But surely if I was promised and as advertised on their thread their turnaround is 48 hrs you would think they will keep that promise.

Its been near to a week and nothing.

What action can I take. I have paid 50%

    Hi,

    Send them a warning first.

Simple. Ask for an immediate refund.

Tell them that when they are not busy, you may reward them with your business (don't pay up front though).

If you happen to like the company, then you may want to give it some more time.

speaking from the writers point of view - offer then a warning -- and make it clear that this will be the last project you will be working with them on if there is any further issues w/ the work. -- I know that sounds harsh, but we do all have unforeseen situations occur, and we do need unanticipated time to balance things, but if you are not getting needed communication (which i know i've been at fault with in the past myself) then you need to be clear to them about your intentions. You were expecting a 48 hour turn around, you should be getting that. If you still do not get a response from your warning, nor the copy work you need done, I would name them so that they are aware their business is about to drop.

    that's just my 2 cents

Just for future reference, I would be wary of any
copywriter who advertised a 48 hour turnaround
    on anything.

Unexpected things often happen, especially during times
of the year when winter storms abound and power may
fail. So no one should be advertising a guaranteed
turnaround of any sort. That's something that should be
agreed upon privately between writer and client.

Having said that, I would definitely attempt to warn the
writer at least once more. If you hear nothing back, check
to see if you are able to chargeback your payment.

Hope that helps. And good luck!

If they are fobbing you of with lines like "we are busy on other things" when they have taken your money I if I we're you would be annoyed!

IMHO That is not the way to treat a customer that you still have to provide the goods for.

In my (a writer) honest opinion, excuses like "we are busy on other things" for a week long and responding only to your messages do not indicate honest attempts being made at their end to meet own promises. While it may be possible that they might be busy, this is not the way to excuse.

No one says that to a client. You never tell someone you can't do their stuff because you are busy with someone else's. That's just not good customer service. Any writer worth anything knows that the assignment they've been given is of paramount importance to the person who assigned it. That is belittling to a client. He/she is off with your 50%. I'm sorry but that's not how professional writers that I know act.

Warn them and ask for what you paid them for or ask for a refund.

If you're truly interested in having that writer write for you, express your dissatisfaction at being quoted the wrong time. Then, ask the writer to give you a more reasonable and accurate time frame.

Otherwise, ask for your deposit back and find a new writer.
