% Of Traffic From Each Search Engine Normal?

    Hey all,

I guess you already know I am new to all of this. I was wondering if the percentages of traffic from each search engine that I get is close to your results. See anything weird with mine? I know I hardly get any image hits. I have alt tags on all of my images, but I don't know. Anything I could do to bump the numbers up with other search engines (other than google that is)? All advice is really appreciated.

% of traffic from each search engine in January:

    google- 84.6%
    yahoo- 6.7%
    aol- 2.2%
    google images- 1.8%
    MSN- 2.3%
    other- 2.4%

    See anything unusual?

    Thanks!!

It all depends on the age of your website and how many pages you have, then looking at how much traffic you get a day, this hasnt been told but that does look the norm for a website, I take it looking at that the website in question isnt a new website :)

Its very common to see the majority of traffic coming from google - which makes sense since they, themselves, have the most traffic.

The site is about 3-4 weeks old. I don't remember. Only 70 pages or so indexed. Only about 200 organic traffic a day.

These percentages look pretty normal? Thanks.

lol Thanks pal! Man, I just have no patience really. I feel like I am working for nothing here. Folks keep telling me to not worry about it, and then it will happen over time. I have also seen a few other folks take a brand new site from nothing to HUGE in no time. I wish I could do that.

I will pay for 2 more years tonight. Someone else mentioned that.

Never heard of this icra tags. Gonna check that link out. Thank you for that 1.

    :)

If you were doing a financial site, you'd see a huge increase in the yahoo stats. If you had a site about parenting or school issues, you'd see a higher number from msn and aol. So it depends. Certain target markets have a tendency to use one search engine more than another.
