hi folks, these is an open discussion about warez.
In my opinion WAREZ is very useful and it has so many merits.
softwares, movies, music, tutorials.... where to get all these stuff if there is no warez! e.g I love a singer called "James blunt" and I want to get his latest cd but he is from England and his dvds are not here in Egypt.. so how should I get it?
I want to buy and learn a software called "3dsmax" but it's very expensive and its dvds tutorials are the same.. so how should I get it?

I'm a big fan of WAREZ, and what about you? do you support WAREZ?

    regards from EGYPT

    I beg to differ

You like a singer but got pirated version of his song is certainly not supporting him.

If the software is too expensive , dun buy and dun learn switch to open source. I consider Microsoft Office expensive, I use Openoffice.

Then don't listen to the song. I mean if it is talking about daily necessity like food and water, even if you need to ransack the warehouses go ahead! For a song surely you can just miss the song instead of flouting the law!?

Then pay for a Windows license or a Mac license, simple as that isn't it?!

Using pirated software is akin to stealing, you saw a car and a motorcycle in a garage but you do not have the money to buy the car and the motorcycle sucks. So what do you do? Steal the car?

This will be what you are essentially doing when you feels linux sucks and want to get a pirated windows or Mac.

I'm gonna disagree on that last point. Digital goods and physical goods are two different things. Physical objects have a limit, if one is stolen then those who made it just lost one object.
A digital good can be replicated at no loss to the creator. Sure you may argue that the owners of 3dsMax lose money if I download a warez version but their not really, I would never buy the program. I don't have the commercial need for it, I just wanted to mess around with it.
The problem I have with warez is when people try to profit from it. If you are a modeler and you sell your models that you built on 3DSmax that is pirated, then there is a loss for the company as you are profiting from the program while their not. Using warez for profit is wrong.

even some big firms of software like warez.

In general users don't have enough money to buy softwares like Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Max,Maya and some very expensive tutorials, so they use warez.

If the users can not access warez they will not learn how to utilize this kind of software.

So when companies try to hire people they will not find people that know Maya,Photoshop, 3D Max and others so will not buy the software.

Without warez some software developers will loose money, because:

    - people that use warez more then 80% will not buy it if they don't find it "free", so will loose less then 20%
    - and they will loose a lot of moneys from companies that not find people to know the software , so will go to free software

As example, what happenned with the IE6,IE7 browser in the time you need to activate the genuine advantage, he loose procent in favour of Firefox.

Also Microsoft removed also the reduction of functionality in the case of a pirated version of Windows to a warning message and no updates.

The warez make some software popular. If people couldn't pirate it Windows I think at this moment at least 30% percent of computers have at this moment Linux and open source.

p2p networks help new artist that don't have a lot of money to promovate their music. In general artist win much more from concerts then from DVDs.
How will come to your concerts if they didn't heard about you and your music.

Why people don't buy dvds, because a dvd have one or two good melodies and rest is garbage.People start to buy from internet only the music they like.

Second problem with the dvds are not cheap. When ALLOFMP3.ru started to sell(legal by the russian law) cheap they haded an immense succes. The companies in the industry have to adapt to earn less, and people are not tolerate it any more to buy 1 good and the rest garbage influenced by the media and advertising.

I have a limited download quota. Does this mean I can steal the CDs/DVDs from a store?

For 3d graphics, a long time ago I used to use Zanoza until I was better and then moved on to larger programs. It's a really simple editor but it's free, I used to make cars in it.

    I don't really understand you affirmation.Can you elaborate.Limited internet, a mp3 dimension is not a problem on downloading.We are in 2008.

I didn't say to steal from a store I just say to buy only the melody you want and from the cheaper online store, and not to be influenced by advertising.

Not in this case. The author spent a fair amount of time writing it. So it's open to him whether he wants to sell it or give it out for free.

What you're allowed to do is talk about the book and tell other's what you've learned from it. But without actually revealing the original text.

However, personally, I do download a lot of stuff, because I can't be bothered to spend all my money on things I can get easily for free. BUT, if I download an album, and turns out I like it, I do usually go and buy the original. I think that's fair enough.

Sorry, I'm still hung up on elmasry's credit card excuse :)

If I want 3DSMAX, but don't have a credit card to buy it online, don't have enough money to buy it from a store, and can't download a 4GB DVD ISO ... then the next logical step is to swipe it from a store right?

    When does it stop?

I'm not an anti warez prude, I just think that making excuses for it is dumb.

knowledge is free on the internet(even here) you just have to search for it.You pay because you are lazy.
If you buy a car you can not share it with your friends, you can not borrow to your friends ?
Books in Libraries of universities, towns, maybe your own are not shared between people even they have copyright.(e-book or not ebook).I don't know where are you located but I can take some books from libraries at home to read them for a limited time.

I think is a difference between share and property.A copyright can't never cross a property and a human right.
