If someone asks you what you do for a living and you said you're a "webmaster" and that person asks you what it is exactly you do...how do you explain it? How do you explain what a webmaster is and how it is to be one? I thought about this because I often come across a lot of questions of exactly what Internet marketing is and is it legal and how do you go about it etc etc. Okay, discuss!
Firstly i usually repond that im self employed when people ask of my work life Them "oh right, what do you do?" Me "I work on the internet" Them "What sort of work?" Me "I basically run a few sites, promoting them and other things etc" If they are still asking questions by this point, i begin to try and explain the things that i do, at this point many switch off and try and get away from me. i dont mind that. What i do mind is the relatives or ignorant that refer to it as if its not a "real job" like its fun and games or something. If i need to put something down on paper i usually write Internet Marketer as it keeps it simple for documents.
webmaster = managing sites / webdesigner/coder = building sites online entrepenours can mean both of them + an online marketer or just an online marketer I'm a webmaster since i manage some sites + a seo freelancer But my aim is to become online entrepenour This "not real job" earns me more then any real job so they can say anything i don't care
yer im currently trying to explain on a CV why i left a part time job in KFC to work on the internet. Without people thinking that Im a quitter or anything
The term webmaster literally translates into Mastering the Web. If you consider the web as web pages, then naturally your work will be creating quality web pages, designing, maintaining the pages and comes with that is the marketing (net marketing) and so on and so forth...
Webmaster = website owner - this really does encapsulate owning, promoting and designing websites for yourself or other people. I prefer to think of myself as an online entrepreneur as I only operate sites for myself.
It was really hard to explain to my mother what hosting is and that cookies are not those "cookies" that she used to cook... and so on... I just tell everybody who don't know all those details that working on internet and this is not so interesting subject for you
Since my contract says Web developer/webmaster and I do freelance web design, I have a choice, but I normally just say I'm a web developer. I'll have to try switching it up and trying the "webmaster" and "web designer" ones out.
When dum arse people ask me what I do with my websitea i say - I'm like a Host at a party, keeping all my guests happy. That normally helps the stupid people understand.
a person who is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of a Web site is known as webmaster.. if u don't know this then u ar not a webmaster
I tell my parents that what I do is more like an advertiser, where I advertise other peoples products and services online.
I rarely tell people. Few of my friends know. I just say I make money on the internet and own websites. The word webmaster never gets mentioned.
