Thumbnails Servers !

Good evening directory owners,

I would like to share with you my list of free thumbnails servers, because some of them may load faster for you.

How to fix the thumbnails problem:

In link.tpl or featured.tpl ( it depends on your template ) search for this line:

<img src="[B]http://msnsearch.srv.girafa.com/srv/i?s=MSNSEARCH&amp;r=[/B]{$link.URL|escape|trim}" alt="{$link.TITLE}" title="{$link.TITLE}" />

Code (markup):

and replace that server with one of the following servers I found during the time:

http://images.websnapr.com/?url={$link.URL|escape|trim}
http://spa.snap.com/preview/?url={$link.URL|escape|trim}
http://open.thumbshots.org/image.pxf?url={$link.URL|escape|trim}
http://www.artviper.net/screenshots/screener.php?&url={$link.URL|escape|trim}

Code (markup):

Maybe you already find a thumbnail server, but maybe some of these will work faster, or maybe the image quality is different and you may wanna change it. If you have any other thumbnail servers post them here, share them !

Thanks! Might help in the future. It is said to see that so many directories are still displaying "missing image" after so many weeks, after MSN killed the service.

I'm using Phpld 3.2 and I looked in the default templates for that code but couldn't find it. Is it any different than that in this version?

you are required to put their link on your site if you use thumshots

 

I think less than 10% of the directories using their service are linking back.

Can someone tell me what files to change to make thumbnails working in admin panel too?

 

why would you need thumbnails in admin panel when you need to review the submitted site anyway ?

that is odd.

 

It's a nice touch. Also, you can clearly see which site is what and where you already have been.

Sometimes it helps.

 

It might be usefull for free directories...where there are tons of links in pending. But as a paid directory, I don't think you have so many submissions per day...

Anyway I will take a look at it later.
