best hosting plan for 4000+ uniques/day

I am having a site with 4000-5000 unique users per day. Site is currently hosted on shared hosting. Site has become very slow and sometime down due to excessive traffic. Should I look for other shared hosting or look for dedicated hosting plans.

Most of my pages are static HTML.

Since your website provider hasn't booted you yet I am going to suggest a VPS. Go with one that has at least 768 MB of RAM. Alternatively you could go with a dedicated server but that
would cost more but give you more room to grow.

I also suggest that since you have are serving mostly static pages you use lighttpd web server. Most VPS webhosts provide lxadmin control panel for free and you can use that to manage lighttpd.

768 MB of RAM I think that would be too much. Can you give me some idea regarding cost.

Thats why you should go for it.When i was looking for a hosting, people sold me all sorta stuff like hostgator, dreamhost and what not. Just do some research and you would realise that literally thousands are crying with dreamhost/hostgator with over the head hosting service. They overload the servers with zillions of sites. imountain charges you more but limits the number of users on servers this way everyone gets a fair share.

Again, go to webhostingtalk and check yourself if imountain has any negative reviews for that matter google imoutain negative reviews, you wont find any. if you try dreamhost sucks, hostgator sucks, there are loads of such reviews.

Remember what affiliates sell you isnt the real story. imountain doesnt offer any commission to affiliates so its honest review.

    hope that helps

I don't know if anyone here can really recommend anyone over Wiredtree and Knownhost regarding managed VPS hosting but it all depends whether you want managed or unmanaged VPS.

    @sudhirmangla :

What is your site about ( do it have heavy database connections ) as 4000-5000 unique visitors can be easily handled even by a good shared hosting plan. :)

No need to go for VPS or dedicated server if yoru site is made up of just simple HTML pages. All you need is good bandwidth and a reliable host, who don't overload his server with thousands of other shared accounts.

If you ask me for a reliable and cheap host i will like to help you with my host which is webhosting.uk.com

You can try their higher cpanel hosting plan like : Supreme or Adcvance Shared hosting where you get enough bandwidth for your site.
Do have a look at following link : http://www.webhosting.uk.com/cpanel-hosting.php

    All the best....

4000+? There's no need for a VPS just yet... I'd say go for one when you reach 8000+

My Site is programmerworld.net and faq.programmerworld.net both are in plain HTML. I use database only for discussion form here programmerworld.net/phpbb/nfphpbb/

I have one more site developersvoice.com this site is PHP based and use database. t is using CMS drupal.

From the comments above I fell that I can still use the shared hosting. I am currently using netfirms for hosting my site. It is usually stable in 2-3 times in a months site goes down due to high traffic.

Hey Sudhirmangla, I have gone through your site and forum, I am sure shared hosting from some reliable host would be sufficient for your site/forum.
I will suggest you to go with webhosting.uk.com for their ADVANCE Shared hosting plan, where you will get 100 GB bandwidth which is more then enough :)

If you are not satisfied with their service and support you can claim for full refund within 30 days, as they do have 30 days moneyback guarantee. Excellent 24x7 live chat support, email and phone support.
