Are Yahoo Groups or Google Groups worth much?

    I see people who started Yahoo Group that have few thousand members putting up the group for sale.
    Are such groups worth much?

    I have a Yahoo group that was started about three years ago. It is like having a list (kinda). I promote things through the group and make money from those promotions.

    So yes they do have some value. It largely depends on the topic of the group.

    Google Groups which are not part of UseNet are useless and worthless.

    The Yahoo Groups are a different story. I have managed to corner a niche in Australia almost to myself with an old Yahoo Group I began in 2000. The ones which have thousands of members are worth a lot as you have a great membership for a particular niche area - not hard to work out the benefits here of you owned one.
