Keyword in domain or in URL

Is the keyword in the domain as important or more important than the keyword in the url?

for example: lets say you have a domain www.greatbooks.com and a URL www.yourdomain.com/greatbooks

    which one has more weight?

    thanks in advance

there are a few things google gives weight to in its so called page ranking

there is much debate about keywords used in domain names but i think it
is just another little piece of the SEO puzzle. Some some keywords used in meta tag
dont matter anymore with google but i think yahoo and others still use them.

you should try to do everything you can to get on page 1 of google.

    good luck by the way

Keyword in domain is good, gives you an extra boost, but not a very big one.
I have two websites in the same niche, one with a keyword in the domain(3 yrs old) and one without (4 months old).

The second domain, the young one, is in top5, while the older one is barely in top20. Same niche, same keywords.

    hi,
According to me keyword in your domain can be very helpful to establish a good presence in search engines. That’s not to say that it’s the only thing you should think about when choosing a domain – it’s also important that the name be catchy, memorable, and brandable – but including a keyword is an excellent way to establish a site-wide theme and promote better rankings.

definitely keyword in your domain name got more weight
from my experience live.com gives a lot more priority for the domain name, page name sort of things. google though gives priority for domain name they mainly look at link popularity as well

Obviously, Keyword in domain will be better than keyword in URL. But it is not a hard fast rule.

Keywords in domain helps in SERP improvement but it still depends on the way you optimized the site. I guess keywords in URL also help but they have different weight on Search Engine.
