Hi, I'm hoping someone can help, I'm getting my site updated (www.turborevs.org.uk) using some type of php layout (dont know much about website desgin, have got someone to do it for me). The new site isnt ready but I've noticed in my URL address bar I no longer have 'www.' in front of my domain name. By not having 'www.' does it make a difference to my backlinks? we building backlinks should I promote www.turborevs.org.uk or turborevs.org.uk? I'm hoping someone can provide some advice as my web designer is totally useless in this field!, he doesnt think its a problem and he reckons it wont effect my rankings or backlinks, I've seen my rankings dip a bit. thanks Jav
Ahh, I see. That's weird. The only difference it will make is with PR. The backlinks will count regardless.
not too bothered about pr as long as my rankings dont suffer, so when submiting to directories, etc should i now use http://turborevs.org.uk as the url?
Yes, but you should also try and figure out what is making it do this. I would like to know. Check out your code and you'll probably find it fairly easily.
its something to do with the cart plugin (Joomla) my new site will use, I have contacted the company who provide the source code and they say with their cart plug the url must be: http//turborevs.org.uk, I find that strange but they arent being much helpful.
