I want to try getting into the adult industry and I want to try making an adult website. What type of website do you think would be good to make? I mean like adult version of youtube or something?
First off you have to understand the the Adult Industry in one of if not the most competitive niche out there. There are some sites like youtube ie redtube.com. You can take a look at that one and get a feel for the site. Also, you will have a ton of traffic once it gets going so make sure you have a hosting plan that will handle all the bandwidth especially if your showing a bunch of videos. Yes, I think that a site that gives free porn content to it's members is a good idea. You can also monetize it w/ some ads (i'm not sure witch companies allow adverting w/ porn) or you can make a subscription service with of course an additional incentive.
i think the adult niche is soooooooo over saturated it would probably be tough to get a piece of it.. you really need something new or unique.. you know, like a site dedicated to naked midget elvis impersonators or something..
you also have to have a good understanding of the 2257 laws, and have all documents to back up the models on your site. I dont know much about the laws. But it just sounds like a hassle. Otherwise I would have dabbled in adult a long time ago.
Hahaha. I thought about doing the same thing, but like he said, it's so over saturated, you need something extremely unique. Try streaming HD Porn
2257 documents are for the USA's use only, therefor if you show a disclaimer stating that no US citizen is to enter your site due to the lack of 2257 doc's then you have no legal reprecussion. Also 2257 doc's are only created by the producer of the content. which means sites like youporn havent had to have these documents in the past as long as its users who submit the files agree to the sites TOS. However new restrictions currently coming into force mean, even user submitted amateur content needs to have a form of 2257 document, which is why youporn now asks its users to confirm they have said documents, or state they do not have it and disallow all US ip's from viewing that content. As to adult niche's. It's not hard to get into, but rather than aim for something massive like youporn or something like that, create, or emulate a micro niche, something a minority of people will be interested in, but that minority will be very loyal to you if you run the site well. Also if you want to create a great adult site and keep its popularity, you need to make sure you create the website for the userbase, not for your financial gain. Nothing sucks more than a free site with shitty content... if a paysite has shitty content, the person has already dished out $20 for the priviledge of fidning out, with a free site you dont have that luxery.
so how do you get these docs? What if you just got a video script and downloaded or linked to videos on other sites? You need docs for that?
2257 docs They come with the content you buy (or should), or you make them yourself when you shoot it. Like I do. Adult sites: Are still very profitable, and it's not overly hard or saturated. Some common sense, and hard work (i.e. treating it like a job) and you'll do fine. I would however recommend getting into fetish, or micro niches versus trying to compete against thousands of mainstream hardcore.
ok but what if your just pulling video feeds from other sites? or just linking to them?? docs need then?
Again, this needs to be clarified if you are U.S., or not. 2257 in current form, secondary producers do not need docs (TGP, tube). However, they have been fighting this out in the courts for the past two years where they might have to have docs. However.. If you are just "taking" files you do not own and posting them. You may run into copyright issues. There was a recent XBiz article talking about forming a coallition to take out the tube sites who are ripping off their content. If you are running it in conjunction with a sponsor, and their permission, that is a different thing. This is one of many reasons I think this tube crap is nothing but a fool's errand. If YouTube would not have been bought by Google. Viacom would have closed them out last year.
