Sorry for making a topic about this, but I have a really newbie question: I am about to acquire a .info domain to my DomainHollywood.com account and the seller is asking for this information: Full Name Address City State ZIP Code Country Phone Number And they add: "This is needed by the registrar to update the WHOIS records of the domain name." I just wanted to make sure this is the right procedure. Sicne this is my first time, I feel a bit weary giving out so much personal information. The user seems trustworthy, but I jsut wanted to double check first. Thanks DP.
What registrar is it? Sounds like Godaddy to me. Standard practice, but all that's needed really for godaddy is your email address for the push.
Yes, this is the right procedure. I have been doing this with Godaddy for years. htmlindex, How do you transfer the domain to godaddy with "only" email address when all other fields are required? If you know a shortcut please share with us... I have been transfering domains for years and could not find it. Thanks.
It's actually domainhollywood, but if this is standard procedure for GoDaddy, I guess it's okay then. Thanks.
I ask for that information for all of my domain name transfers aswell. They are required fields for a GoDaddy transfer. You can choose to give fake info and change it yourself upon transfer, I believe. But be sure to always give your correct email address at least.
Only a valid e-mail address is required. I like to also get the country as well, but you can put in all 7's or something for the zip code, phone, etc. and use Mike Smith as name, etc. Receiver gets an e-mail to go in and update information before transfer is completed and pusher doesn't see that. I usually ask for all information pre-push, but if they are hesitant, I just get e-mail address (required) and country when possible.
You just need the correct email & just make up all the other info, then the new owner changes their details later on.
