Myanmar is ruled by a Military Junta, which is supported by Chinese government. Democracy and Civil liberty has been buried alive. People are more concerned about feeding themselves than about who their leaders should be.

Poverty is ripe in Myanmar. Remember how the Junta crushed the Monks rebellion, and no one did anything about it.

IMO, You should not make the crocodile your enemy if you live in a pond.

the Chinese aren't supporting what the burmamese government is doing, I doubt any country in the world supports what they are doing, the Chinese simply do not believe it is I'm their best interest to interfere.

It is a great pity, Burma was one of the most developed country about 40 years ago? The Secretary General for UN was also a Burmese and the Burmese universities was acclaimed to be the Cambridge of the East. After Ne Win took power, all things started going down.

I remembered during the news one Burma monk was asking why didn't USA intervene, pity was even though they produce oil, they do not do so with abundance enough for USA to care I guess.

It is a sad thing to see what used to be one the most developed Asian country turned into a backwater.

The Chinese won't bother as long as it does not affect them and they gain from the oil concessions given by the Burmese military junta.

Asean has not much military power, the strongest are Singapore and Thailand both of which will not send troops without the auspices of the UN. India is normally non aligned, I don't think they will bother. China, as long as Burma is not interfering with its interest, will not bother too....... I don't see anyone bothering about Burma, which is very sad.

They are really relying on the west to come, but, as well all know the west has no interest in them. So sad, really. I have several friends who have traveled to Burma and they all say that the Burmanese are an extremly welcoming people.

    sigh..

The France may help but it all depends on who is leading the case, which is normally USA, but USA won't touch Burma so I guess they have to fend for themselves which is very sad, they are a very cultured and friendly people

I've read that the British, especially the French are sucking the oil dry out of that place. I'm sure if the situation gets enough international coverage something will be done. But even after Septembers protests nobody even noticed. Are you from Sea?
