Duplicate Content- Problems, Solutions?

    Hey all,

I need content. I need a lot of it. One of the easiest ways that I know to get it is by using articles on zlinearticles. You include the author's sig and links, and it's all on the up-and-up. But here comes the duplicate content monster. Right?

I am thinking about beating that monster by adding to the articles. I have a different page name (different than the article title). I add a few introductory paragraphs to introduce the article. I add a few summary paragraphs after the article. Have I beaten the duplicate content monster by doing it this way?????

How do you get around duplicate content? I can write, but only so much. It would take me a lifetime to write as much as what I want right now.

Sure, you can buy articles, but $5 times the quantity I want is a bit much.

I have seen scripts for sale that will rewrite articles. Not to be too square, but I don't really want to steal. Know what I mean?

    How do you do it?????

Let's say you wanted content to fill up 5,000 pages today, what would you do? Guide me through your steps.

What will I do in return? I will thank you.

    Thanks guys!!!

P.S. What does this have to do with seo? Duplicate content penalty in serps I presume.

Write your own content, you'll get no respect just altering other peoples articles. This is the bane of webmasters.

I respect the heck out of that. Honestly, it is what I have been doing, but it's soooo time consuming.

Without stealing from anyone, is there a way around this? What about piecing bits of articles that are in the public domain? You know, using bits and pieces from sources that are not copywrited. Would that avoid the duplicate content issue?

    Thanks.

P.S. Correct me if I am wrong, but the site in your sig link uses content that does not belong to you. Right? I love the pics, and my kids do too, but that is not your unique content. Correct?

You can try citing sources of your content, if allowed by the author. The main problem with duplicate content is it has to be unique to not be duplicate, meaning it can be revised or altered from another source. Nothing not right is done easy.

Dealing with the copyright issues is easy (stick with non-copyrighted materials or re-write), but my issue really deals with duplicate content (as far as google is concerned).

For instance, will I be penalized for having 1/10 of a page that is duplicate content? What if it is 50%? 75%? See what I mean? How much duplicate content on a page is seen as something worthy of a penalty in the serps by google?

What if I have a page with borrowed content (properly cited) from 20 sources? What if the page is all borrowed content, but it is pieced together from 20 different sources? Does that avoid the duplicate content penalty?

Hey, I appreciate your help pal. I know that I am barking around for an easy answer, and that answers usually aren't easy, but it sure would be nice to find one.

    :O)

hire writers at freelance sites, u can easily find writers working at cheap rates like $1 per 500 words.

some writers r so good, they work for cheap rates only to get some good ratings

Don't forget that all text on your pages is actually considered "content". The menus, the headers, etc. etc.
So if you have a lot of "structural" and additional content on your pages, besides the 'borrowed' articles, then the % of duplicate content decreases...

You know, I was wondering about that. Thanks for the clarification.

I wonder what % of duplicate content it takes to trigger a serp penalty??

I think it's not just the %, but also the size...

So if you have a page with just 1 header and 2 lines of text, and one line is a famous quote, that is available on another 50.000 sites, then you probably won't get a penalty for duplicate...

But if you have a page with 2000 words, where 1500 words are duplicate, then I think achieving good serps could be troublesome...

Again, this is just speculation. I don't have official proof or anything...

    I agree with ssandecki totally

50 pages of unique, quality, original content is better than 5000 pages of rehashed JUNK that you have added to from article sites.

If you need content than make it. There's no need in going around and copying everyone else's stuff.

Looks like you want to copy others content but to keep it unique. Yeah there are 2 solutions
    <sarcasm>
    • Ask the author to remove his original content
    • Make up your mind on what you want
    </sarcasm>
Thats the only cure about duplicate content what comes up in my mind to give you as advice as of the moment that is different from what the other folks told you.
