    10 to 20 maybe.......

Who said he was using cat food?? he did...that does not mean it is reality.

Think outside the box....nobody is going to give 100% of their strategy.

Your target market likes the rap artist Akon

You send the user to an Akon music sales page or perhaps where to find Akon concert tickets and along the way slip in the offer for a download of an Akon ringtone

    ;)

Cat food and ringtones is too far of a stretch to have a scintilla of reality unless its a cat meowing ringtone.....

About 150 per group for the content network. I use Google's keyword tool, since the keywords it outputs are already algorithmically tuned to the content network (I think, anyway). By that I mean that Google assigns every ad group one theme, and if you use the keywords they suggest, it will have an easier time assigning that theme.

    ???

Keywords that they suggest are from search queries across their whole network with volume broken down by month.

Keyword are also generated by the content on your site. Not what is on the content network.

Keywords are not generated per ad group that I am aware of. So not sure where you are coming up with themes and ad groups.

Could you point to a source for this statements?

A source would be my own campaign history, which I will not show you.

As for a 'theme' per ad group for content network, do some Googling, it's been written about.

Many of my successful ad groups for ringtones are just as far out as 'cat food'. I know Sem-Advance is in this thread pounding in the traditional PPC advice for everyone, which is great, we all like talking eBooks -- but real success is met through ingenuity and trying something unique (even outright stupid) to see what works.

If you guys want to succeed, ditch the rules, ditch the traditional, and go off on your own. I spent 2 1/2 years "going by the book", as soon as I threw the book out the window, I started building successful campaigns.

Thinking outside the box is KEY to making a decent profit margin. Especially in ringtones.

My best tip is try to get inside the head of the demographic that you're targeting, what do they search for, what do they buy.

Also try split testing straight landing pages with landing pages that give the user multiple choices (this works better for product orientated searches).

I was also using cat food as an example...

Do you have any advice on the technology used between the two offers? Pop ups seem to be pretty well blocked now a days.

No popups, no forced exit pages. User's organically click there way to the ringtone landing page.

LOL! I love it when all the big guys keep saying to "think outside the box". Problem is that some of us (ahem..me) are too stupid to even think *inside the box*!!!! :D

Anyways, great thread and super congrats on your success. Hard work does pay off :). BTW, any particular research tools besides Google keyword tool that you may use for keyword...or ad research...?

How do you keep your QS high enough to rank for any of these different terms?

He still has relevent landing pages for the keywords he's bidding on, plus, keep in mind he's using the content network. Google is not nearly as strict about quality on the content network as they are on the search network.

I've ben trying to piece all of this together ans have some newbie questions that I hope you can answer w/o giving too much away.

I've tried promoting some affiliate products using adwords with the adwords link going to the products landing page. Are you suggesting creating your own landng page and then provding a link to the products landing page?

I've also been running some CPC campaigns for my niche sites that have auction affiliate links and some adsense. I'm not making much off of that.. maybe a few $ a day.

Any generic steps you can provide without giving the niche or keywords your using?
