Other then in the bible's mention of him. There has never been any mention of him otherwise. Even thou Christ was walking around saving people and so fourth, nobody has EVER mentioned him anywhere. The existence of Christ, is purely hearsay. (Excluding the obvious proof in the bible)
How can anyone in their right mind think that the world and all of its contents just appeared out of nothing, without a creator? Seriously which is the most likely? Existence from a creator, or existence from nothing? I have no problem with those that aren't sure of Gods intentions, or even those that aren't sure of the bible and its contents. But to those that think the world developed from nothing. Thats silly. Sillier than believing an invisible man did it. Your saying no one did it. Just silly.
Something had to create your creator. Of course you can take the easy route and say he "always existed". So it's not possible for the earth to have existed and slowly evolved, but it IS however possible some magical being who has existed created us?
Right and you know this how? Sources... etc...? Anything besides random things that you think happened?
you can't "know" anything by faith. By definition "faith" doesn't allow you to know anything. The most you can do is believe it.
faith is a belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence Belief is the psychological state in which an individual is convinced of the truth of a proposition. Like the related concepts truth, knowledge, and wisdom, there is no precise definition of belief on which scholars agree, but rather numerous theories and continued debate about the nature of ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Attenborough#Religion_and_creationism Just found this on Reddit. Just curious on your thoughts.
My thoughts on that are this: God created everything, even Satan, the most evil force known. God is love and God is wrath. I believe God has a use for that boy. His death will in someway benefit of Gods glory, or another's salvation. How? I don't know, i know it sounds like a horrible thing. But like i said, faith is beyond logic, and i have faith God knows what he is doing. Beyond that, i don't know what to tell you.
If you only used your religion as a replacement for scientific understanding it wouldn't be too bad. Children do that a lot. But you don't just think there is a "creator" do you. You think you know what he wants you to do and how he wants you to do it. You think he sent his son to earth to be tortured to death as a way to forgive sins that have yet to be committed. You think that after he "created" the universe he had to get people to write a book for him. You think that an entity so powerful that it could create an entire universe out of nothing requires our worship and punishes people for eternity if they don't provide that worship. Now THAT is silly. And that is ignoring the fact that your agent for the beginning of the universe (god), An agent that is invoked to be the initial cause, Has no cause himself. it's pretty pointless to say nothing can come from nothing so i am going to invoke an agent to solve that problem, Oh and by the way, The agent i am invoking came from nothing. Your logic falls flat on it's face because your agent is subject to the same problem that he was invoked to solve. And if you now say god CAN come from nothing or that it always existed, Why could that not also be possible for the universe? It's just another bizarre rationalisation to give reason to an otherwise obscured belief. You are doing the same thing by assuming that god has a plan and that plan involves a small boy having his eye eaten by a worm. It's a get out of jail free card. It's the theological equivalent of saying "look over there" and running away. it doesn;t proved an answer, it simply serves to enable you to carry on believing something that makes absolutely no sense. are we really to believe that the grand plan of the universe involves a small boy having his eye eaten by a parasitic worm? Is that what you really think? I don't think you do believe it and only use it as a justification or outlandish rationalisation.
My agent is super-natural. The creator of such vastness and beauty, could only be that. God is an intelligent force in a since, thats is above logic and above existence. You say its silly that God creates these people, gives them rules, and punishes those that do not obey. Perhaps you have ever heard of government or you think that idea is silly too. Last month i was at a special event our church was hosting, we were explaining what the bibles basic principles were to homeless men, we started teaching about sin. One man ran to the speaker and knelt at his feet crying in tears. This man cried and begged god for mercy. The speaker said a prayer for him, as they finished the man stood up walked over to a trashcan and as he reached into his pocket he pulled out two needles and threw it in the trash, he then pulled out a little baggies, that contain lord knows what, and threw it in as well. This man has been clean cold turkey for a month now. He shows up for Sunday and Wednesday services. Cold turkey. It could be a coincidence as im sure you will assume. But you ask any junkie what it would take for them to quit cold turkey and see what they say. We dont just believe in God by faith, we see his miracles to this day, we feel the joy and love in our hearts. if you cant except that im sorry, but its my belief and i have every right to it.
You say miracles are signs god exists? A real miracle is what's being accomplished in laboratories throughout the world. The vaccines and cures for diseases being invented daily. Without science there'd be no cure for polio still. I take it you don't have enough faith to stop your kids from getting vaccinated? If they die it's part of God's plan anyways...right?
So your basing your religion on a human giving up a bad substance put on earth by God which he then gave up and thanks god for helping him stay ff drugs yet he put it there in the first place?
Good point. Take the pope for example.... Does a man who believes in divine intervention and "plans" surround him self with 6 inchs of bullet proof glass? These people are frauds. They pay lip service and tell us they believe one thing, yet their actions betray a complete lack of confidence.
No its not based on that, its just an example. The drug or plant God put here was abused by the man, used correctly it can be rather effective way of treating pain and other ailments. I'm not big on catholicism anyway, but ill address your point because its a good one. Though we should have faith and not fear death, we are still of man and flesh, and the flesh fears death. As Christians we should not look for death either, for we are here to serve a purpose. Overall your right, we (Christians) should not fear death at all, But No Christian is perfect, we all fall short, sometimes even with our faith. I do not fear death, but in a reflex if i were faced with it, i might try to avoid it. It all boils down to a battle between body and spirit. Why? because i believe God created the world? I have a messed up mind, because i believe in God. Well what you don't understand is it has nothing to do with the mind, its heart and soul, and im pretty sure thats in the right place. All i wish on anyone is peace, love, and Gods blessing, if that means my mind is messed up, than ill gladly accept it.
