Grrrr Host Gator !! Double Payment !!

    Hey Guys,

    Just venting....
Today I log in to check out my eMail and Paypal, I realise that I have paid Host Gator again for my dedicated hosting, yes twice in one month, how does this happen ?

Well I get an email saying that if I don't log in and pay the hosting I will be incurred with a $10 fee or worse the sites will be closed, so obviously I log in and pay the hosting fee of $370 (three days ago).

Then today I log in and guess what, the dedicated server payment has been taken out automatically, so I have paid $750 for the hosting.

This annoys me as I have left $400 in PayPal to pay for advertisements for the month, now it's gone and I am left with pennies.

Of course I wont need to pay for next months hosting - because they'll just give me credit, but I really needed that $370 for this months advertising.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Paying on an invoice basis and not subscription can help avoid situations like yours

The only way by it. I never ever do subscription, they can change the invoice to be due today and take the money out, subscriptions is like having FREE access to someones paypal account

Yeah, I have asked for a refund, having a bad week :

    A) Waiting for a DP seller to push domains into my account - taking frustratingly long.
Also waiting to upgrade 6 sites with my ad's - adsense etc. (same as above (A))
Waiting for DP member to move his sites from hosting account (same as above(A))
Need to move a Proxy onto new server - have to wait for A.
and now I have Paid the double hosting fee.

Don'y you just love being a webmaster !!

well you dont actually need to ask for refund. They will credit your account for it.
unless you need the money to spend on something else, then ask for refund.

Yeah I had left that money in my account for advertising expenses, and yup it's the pro dedicated server from Hostgator, I just hate the "You have to pay within ** days" warning - I just thought I had better pay it.

I will request a refund, but I am not sure if I will get it.

well, you are losing money in getting the quad core for 3704 in the first place but I think you had a subscription and paid manually in the same time. this is why I don't accept subscriptions from my clients :D

anyways. the payment should be a credit in your account and used for next month payment. just make sure you cancel the subscription to avoid this from happening next month ;)

Yeah if you mean I am loosing money because it's expensive - then yes it's true, but I wanted a solid company hosting my sites and one that was reliable. But on another note I'd be interested in hosting 7 proxies with you - if you could help me out - PM me if you're interested.

It's actually impossible for us to take money out of your paypal without you agreeing / sending.

    Here's what sounds like happened....

You subscribed to pay your bill via paypal subscription. The day you subscribed was a few days after the invoice is actually due.

So while your subscription will eventually pay the invoice it's a few days after the invoice was created resulting in you getting a past due email since technically it is past due a few days. Subscriptions are a pain unless you subscribe on the same exact day the invoice was created.

You got this email and then went ahead and paid it resulting in your subscription kicking in later thus 2x payment.

If paypal allowed us to modify subscriptions and such our life would be a lot easier. Just put a ticket in with us and we will be happy to refund you.

Thanks Hostgator, yeah I have applied for the refund, I was just venting here, I just got scared with the warning eMail and thought that I better pay it, then was a bit upset to see my advertising dollars gone and then my missus nagging me "thought you were making money" LoL.

Nope I was knocked back for refund .... DoH !!

It took them a while to respond so I wrote another email, but response was "No it seems you have two subscriptions active" "Cancel all subscriptions via Paypal and wait until my credit runs out"

Dang it - I really needed the dollars for advertising, so I have to cancel the dedicated plan (I was just holding on to it for future use anyway), actually I just did, but now I am left with my other plans which cost $30 a month - hence I have 14 months credit .....

I have PMed you HostGator with ticket details, I am not sure if they can do it - but they closed ticket imediately after I was refused the refund :( - I hope you can help out.

    Thanks,
    Jason

They pulled the same thing to me one time. I demanded a refund furiously and explained that if I did not receive a refund I would file a Charge Back with my bank as well as a lawsuit against them for fraud. Chad B. replied explaining my refund was processed. :)
