Looking kind of squishy, how should I revamp

How should I format my "Client List" Page?

Poll closed Feb 2, 2008.
  1. Just leave it as is and open up the leading (vertical space between the lines to give it more air)

  2. Do the expand/contract folder thingy like the "What I do" page.

  3. Don't do the expand/contract folder thingy here, do an open categorized outline

  4. No offense, but I don't care for any of these ideas. See the thread for my suggestion.

I've been updating my website in bits and pieces between jobs since the New Year. And my Client List page, first link is looking kind of squishy and difficult to hunt through as I've added client names.

I just recently redid my "What I do" page and added little folders outline style.
    Client List Page: http://annemoss.com/Client_List.shtml

    What I do Page: http://annemoss.com/freelancecopywriter.shtml

Here's what I want to know. Should I do the little java folders thingies for the Client List page? It's not as much copy so I was thinking the folders don't need to be collapsible but leave them open but categorized. I'm thinking an open outline with categories such as:

    [IMG] Health care:
    [IMG] Finance:
    [IMG] Package Goods:

And so on. I'm trying to add a poll so people will vote. I've been so sure with other stuff and just can't make up my mind. Logos would add some visual interest but that would be a big project. I plan the page with that in mind if you think that would be a good idea.

A set number of random clients with website thumbnails and the client name ?

Then a click through for a full list?

I think it would look good, but then again I think your site already looks more than excellent.

sharqi- Thanks for the compliment. I think the little logos might add some visual interest and it might be worth the effort.

I don't like the idea of collapsible folders for client work unless you have a great deal of work for each client. It works well for "What I Do" since that is a varied area with plenty for each folder. I like the idea of the thumbnails if they are appropriate or just an open list or pseudo-outline would be easier to read.

I think it would look best if you just put up a list of clients and a small thumbnail against each, sort of like sharqi says. Wherever applicable, you can prefix a '+' or folder icon to the client name so people can click on it and see related info (like work you've done for them).

    For example:

    Client A
    +Client B
    +Client C
    Client D

    and so on....

And no offence but is it just me, or does the site's color scheme remind anyone else of Barbie dolls and cooties?

I wouldn't have thought that gray, black and red resembled barbies and cooties. And because I'm extremely biased, I'm going to default to it's "just you" simply because that's the way I want to think about it. :D

Thanks for the suggestions you guys. Exactly what I was looking for. It's a page that is popular so I want it to be as user friendly as possible.

Gray, black and red? Your comments have forced me to take drastic measures... To prove my theory of the attacking Barbies, I have prepared the following image after extensive research into your color scheme:

    I win.

Nice site though. Honest. I wish I had as many online clients to refer people to.

Admin, Admin, techman is making girls cry! :D

Those are drastic measures TM. Actually, I like that. Honestly, I don't remember putting all those Barbies on my site! But I'm going to redesign my site to include more barbies. Clearly, I've overlooked this as leverage to promote my professional credibility. I think clients would trip all over themselves to hire me if there were more Barbies. Don't you guys? Princess or Beach Blanket Barbies?

The "So what do I do" type and menu type and all hyperlinks is #CC0000 which is RED.. Is your computer screen an analog from the 80s? (couldn't resist that one). The background letters do have a pink tint as that happens when you apply opacity to red.

One things for sure techman, you see things differently. That's a good thing in a writer. And now I know why I show up in so many Google searches for Barbie memorabilia.
