    Is it any good?

I am currently with aplus.net but tired of dealing with their support. They patronise instead of trying to find solutions for businesses. I've got websites with html extensions and need them to display php. Guess what their solution was? Rename my files with php extensions. When I told them that it would be suicidal to do it as I would loose all my ranking, they told me I should have thought of it beforehand

They maybe right but support should stick to being support and no try to give business advices on planning for expansion... There is a solution to my problem and it is to move to a unix server and set up a .htaccess file which would allow me to develop my site without having to rename all the files. Aplus.net support are contradicting each other weither it is possible or not. Support at hostgators have assured me it is. So, Is Hostgator any good?

    Thank you for your input!

You can parse html as PHP. I am doing this for my websites with many different hosts, and a different .htaccess file is required for different hosts.

Thank you. You solution is for a UNIX server right?

Support at Hostgators have told me it is possible anyway. I am just trying to find out if their service is any good regarding downtime, server speed and daily back up.

Linux or FreeBSD should be OK. Though it is not working for 1 Linux webhost, I've tried with 4-5 hosts so far

Honestly, I won't go for Hostgator; in addition, I'd like to recommend you to BlueHost, which is probably a much better offer than the former.

good luck with host gator as when we tried to get a site that was close to ecommerce with them, the HTML coding didn't accept it when we tried to added Paypal buy now buttons and all it did take you to Paypal's homepage and not the following the coding that we enetered, plus they are horrorable when it comes to suport as you have to wait with a support ticket to find out what is the problem when we checked out companies and got good reviews, but it turned out to be lies though.

Good luck to you all who have them.

I have used hostgator for 2 years now and I cannot complain. Their support has been spectacular and if there is any downtime, I just get on live chat and they tell me whats going on. You cannot complain with that at all and I have 20 sites hosted with them, no problems so far!

Dudleyswarehouse.com what was your account with us? I'm having trouble finding you by your domain, name, email etc in our system? I love how you say were terrible then recommend your own hosting company. It all seems a little suspicious so would appreciate you verifying. Can you provide a ticket number where you had problems?

The issue your talking about wouldn't have anything to do with a hosting company but an issue with your coding.
