That sucks, not that I care for Yahoo, but I definitely care that Google's competition is cutting jobs. I dont hate Google but I love the underdog.

GooGle actually was the underdog. They won. So you should be happy.

Good point, I guess I just like when things are more even rather than a superpower search engine that cant be touched.

Wow, I guess they are trying to cut back on expenses, might be for the best though, the company is too big to lose their position in the Internet industry for a long while. As long as they stay being the most visited homepage on the Internet, I'm sure they won't suffer too much :p.

May be Yahoo will start doing better once they cut down their expenses.
So far it doesn't look good at all. They had to clean their backyard after all.

If anyone in here believes that Y! is abandoning search and plans to outsource it to G or M$, then please contact me: I'd like to make a $1 million wager with you.

Yahoo seems to be on its last legs, can seem to compete with Google, other search engines making some nice changes, but Yahoo just seems to get things goofed up all the time. 700 employees gone, 13,500 to go.

I am sure Yahoo is concentrating more on web 2.0, there is too much investment and competition in Search market. As i see their other services are booming, Google can't even come close to creating something as successful as Yahoo answers. Flickr is way ahead of google's picassa in photosharing.
Internet does not start and end with search.

Based on Alexa traffic, Yahoo and Google got almost the same traffic as of this time.
