Good to see some Buddhist related posts for more go to http://www.buddhanet.net/ wow, websites can tell you who you were in a past life.... right. just like the "get a free kama test" sites.
Great resources, interesting site that you found, it will really take me sometime to digest it. Cheers!
For Buddhism I can only remember a story about Buddha cutting his flesh to feed the eagle who was after a pigeon. Buddha was protecting the pigeon, but the eagle told Buddha, if I dont eat him I myself will die of hunger, so he sacrifice his own flesh to feed the eagle. I think the move symbolize the enlightenment because to Buddhist, your own body is just a bag of bones and flesh for your soul. Those who are really into Buddhism do correct me if I am wrong.
You mean this story? I dont even think its a buddhist story, at least I havent head it before but it could be a tibetan or chinese thing. [EDIT] the more I think about it I doubt this is a buddhist story. On the soul issue... the buddha taught that everything in this universe is in a total state of flux and change and will eventually cease. Therefore there cannot be an everlasting or eternal soul. Great suffering occours when we try to cling onto objects, ideas or concepts that are constantly changing and destined to eventually cease to exist. The end of suffering is pretty much what buddhism is about and it sometimes amazes me how much has been written about it when at its core its so simple.
