Im running a campaign bidding on very competive high traffic keywords....right now im in the number 1 spot getting tons of traffic however its been 4 days and my bids have not dropped much at all. Its very up and down, it could drop .10 one day then rise back to normal the next. I have a great quality score on these keywords and around a 6-9% ctr but my bids havnt really dropped. Im paying around 1.75-2.00 per click right now and i know that the others are paying like .40 cents per click. is 4 days not enough time to tell since its such compettive keywords? How long does it usually take...im testing ads etc..trying to raise ctr, it stays at around 6-9% now. If i wait for 2 weeks and my bids still havnt automatically dropped...should i lower them myself and just watch my position. Also, please dont tell me to give up as i have no intention too
"should i lower them myself and just watch my position" That's basically the way how you lower your bids.
Hi NCDE i don't want to hijack your thread, but I was about to post a thread along the same lines. Therefore I'll post my question below so both questions can be answered in one. I hope you don't mind. ----------- which kind of evolution on the CPC can I expect if try to get top positions for rather competitive terms by raising max bids to lets say 3 - 4€. If ads get a reasonable CTR (though I don't not what that would be either) maybe around 4-6% will this on the long run have an effect on my cost? Will I have to pay less for the some spots, given that the ads quality and CTR are doing fine? What kind of changes could be expected and in which timeframe? Thanks for your advice in advance.
but usually due to high QS and ctr doesnt adwords automatically lower them for you? What i mean is that your avg cpc will get lower and lower, but mine is staying the same even though i have good qs, and ctr.
Thats what i was going to say. It should lower the bids automatically based on the next lower Ad's rank number and your quality score. This is how works as it explains this in the learning centre. so if we lower the bids ourself, will our Ad's still show in top positions?
ya thats what i thought, but my bids arent moving...idk if i should lower them myself like .5 cents a day and see.
I lowered my bids at http://thequarry.net and have seen mixed results. Will probably just put it back where it was before unless things get better
why does google not display the keywords quality score and other relevant details so we can get an idea of how much we can bid or let adwords do the bidding automatically? This way we can check if the bidding amount is correct. why is this hidden from us?
