http://www.testyourhost.com Hi all, I'm looking for feedback and critique on testyourhost.com. It's designed to explain what CDN (content delivery network) can do to help businesses with bandwidth and managing traffic/download speeds. Two main things I'd like to know: From viewing the site, do you understand what CDN does? And could you please test the functionality of the download speed test, it's free and just takes a minute. I want to make sure it's intuitive, that a person unfamiliar with cdn can figure out how it works. http://www.testyourhost.com Thanks guys, Red
my first impression was WOW! beautiful design good website overall and nice tool you got there. Hope this brings you success. -Khaled
Thanks for the input guys. Has anyone tried out the test or had trouble understanding what CDN is/does?
I liked the description of what a CDN is. I didn't know what a CDN was before, but your site did a good job of explaining it and the animated image was helpful. I tried the test but it is still pending approval. Why does it have to take so long to complete the test? Also I used a 0.4 mb file because it was the largest on my host, but I didn't get an error for going under the 0.5 mb limit.
Anduril, The error message actually gets sent as an email message to you. But your right, the error message just tells you there was an issue and it failed, it doesn't give specifics as to why. It's something we're going to change for sure.
The site looks good! I like the header, the layout & the color. Just noticed that you only have 2 pages, eh? Well, navigation is easy but just wonder how does the site really work? What's the purpose? So might put an "ABOUT" page. I've checked the source of the page and i got this: This is for the SEO part of your site. If you want your site be searchable on Google or any other search engine, try to code your Title, meta keywords, & meta description.
Great site and idea but you better hurry a couple of sites are similar to yours. I will be back to show you the sites
jswy, I'd be interested to see those. Wickedinnovations, There are more pages than that but only viewable after you've filled out the little form at the bottom to run a test. And thanks for pointing out the lack of seo in the meta, will pass it on.
I still haven't received the results of the test which I submitted about four hours ago. It "still needs approval" and I don't know why - do you require a human to do the speed test? If so a time estimate would have been useful. Is there a way to make an automated instant test. I thought the title was great - descriptive and succint
Awesome feedback guys, this is exactly the kind of stuff I need to hear. Keep it coming! Anduril, I'll get with our engineers and web guys to find out, I assumed it was automated, you should receive an email informing you when the test was complete. I like the idea of giving an estimated time when you make a submission, will definitely consider implementing your suggestion.
