Hoping someone can answer a few questions for me.

What is it? ( think I have the basic idea)

    How do you get one?

How do you know if you already have one?

    Thanks :)

Dynamic IP is when you IP address changes everytime you reconnect to your ISP. It depends on your service provider - you can't change your static IP to dynamic and vice versa.

Dynamic IP is great, because I can reconnect and do all sorts of things without having to use a proxy :D:D

If you want to check, ask your ISP. Or find your IP, reconnect and check to see if it changes or remains the same.

static ip = your ip address doesnt change

dynamic ip = new ip when you disconnect and reconnect to your isp (or reboot your modem)

I have a dynamic IP, great for when you go to sites like Rapidshare with those download restrictions, just disconnect & reconnect & you can automatically download :)

I have a cable modem. It's on all the time. How do I "connect" to something that is always on? Unplug it and plug it back in?

Just do a reset or unplug and your dynamic IP will change to a new one.

Yeah just unplug and plug again but make sure you aren't doing this with the intention of spamming people. :D

Thanks, I will call and ask..

Sort of the same topic. I DLed Hide IP Platinum trial. It shows by my clock an IP for Italy but when I go to the page the poster about posted it still shows my old IP. Am I doing something wrong? (I even tried right clicking the program and going to show IP and it shows my original also.)

Have you tried connecting to your router? Do you have that option? If you do and you have a DHCP enabled internet connection you should be able to disconnect/reconnect and change your IP. If your IP remains the same then you probably have a static IP.
