    LOL - Supposedly the updates will be gone soon.
    no one really cares about the updates anymore
    since PR means nothing, that tool is going to be
    ditched by "G"

    If you're talking about PR update then you've got a while to wait. Once just happened not too long ago and it's about 3 - 6 months between updates.

    Page rank is updated daily by Google

    it is only the PAGE RANK TOOLBAR that everyone is desperate to go up because it is visible proof of your sites PR...and this is only updated by Google every 3-6 months,

    While PR lasts anyway!

    Think of it like a big Google cron job that updates their PR stats to a visual graphing , which is then passed on to webmasters to see how badly Google has robbed them of their bragging ability (or link selling ability if you are that way inclined!)
