Google vs Yahoo

Actually I am wondering of the following.

Do a search on yahoo for "search engine"
search.yahoo.com is the number 1 result
    google.com is second.

    fair enough right ?

You probably think by now that by doing a google search for the exact same phrase" "search engine" that google will top yahoo. Well... you're wrong if you think this.

Google is not even in the first page of the results.. Wonder why . So what do you think ?

Yahoo are having big troubles with money. Google has more visitors than Yahoo. And thats why Yahoo is not fair enough

Google doesnt need to rank better in the engines, and who in there right mind would search a SEARCH ENGINE for a search engine? Its just plain silly and doesnt matter.

it's not about searching for it , it is how people link it and besides linking it yahoo or google (bt the brand name) they might link it this way .

P.S. : if you have a spell checker in firefox google si underlined as a misspelled word and yahoo is not. hmmm

Sure you can compare them that way

Google is above yahoo, #1 search engine, IMO ads are doing much better. Yahoo is falling falling falling...(as of now)

you won't find too many guys searching for "seach engines" with a search engine lol. i'm planning to do a blog on yahugle.com that would be a war between Google and Yahoo services: search engines, mail, adsense vs YPN and things like these but i don't have time now :( to develop it.

well as long as google comes up first if typed in google search bar and yahoo comes up first, for yahoo search bar (as in browser toolbars), its all fine.
Those are more likely times people will "search".

Google doesn't need to rank itself first, everyone knows it is already.

Wow you really think that way? Google can alter some code and rank at the top permanently for that term.

But... they choose not to, which is why my respect for Google has increased, a bit.

I always use Google. The only time I go to Yahoo is to go to their movie site.

You want to know why? Google doesn't think very highly of itself, that's why. :D
