301 Question

SITE1(Optimized for SE's) will be redirected to SITE2(New Site).

Q1: Does the optimization of SITE1 carry through SITE2?
Q2: What will be the effects of that redirection will it be good or bad?

 

301 redirect is the most efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for webpage redirection. It's not that hard to implement and it will preserve your search engine rankings for that particular page. If you have to change file names or move pages around, it's the safest option. The code "301" is interpreted as "moved permanently".

 

You will see your SE ranking drop temp.

 

Expect a drop in ranking for a good 3 or 4 months, anyway. I know I did!

 

it is depends on age and reputation of old pages, i gained rank within 2 days as well as pr in this pr updates for all redirected pages.

That would depend:

If you've got a structure like this:

www.domainone.com/page1.html
www.domainone.com/page2.html
www.domainone.com/page3.html

and you 301 redirect all of them to

www.domaintwo.com/

Then domaintwo won't pick up as much a ranking as it would if you 301'd to specific pages. Such as

www.domainone.com/page1.html > www.domaintwo.com/article1.html
www.domainone.com/page2.html > www.domaintwo.com/article2.html
www.domainone.com/page3.html > www.domaintwo.com/article3.html

This way each of the new 'article' pages would pick up the weight of page1,page2 and page3 evenly, although it could take anything from a few days to a couple of months, depends on how much you really get the links built up for the new 'article' pages, in this example.

 

The inbound links will be carry over to new site. Which means also the PR will be carryover.

301 redirect is the most SE friendly and will not trigger page duplicate issues when transferring to new domain name.

301 is permanent redirect. It means your SITE1 is permanently moved to SITE2. Its like telling the post office that you lived on ADDRESS1 and now your are moved to ADDRESS2.

I lost rank for about 2 days, then back on top with same pr and backlinks

I don't have any knowledge about it but i think you are right because it may be possible that when we redirect our 1st site to other then it carry over all its link to other that will affect 2nd site same as 1st one.

301 is the best way to redirect your website, its seo friendly. If you have a long website will thousands of page, it may take a long time to effect may be 5 to 7 months, and if you have a small website, you will get ranking soon as well as pr.

 

Inbound links would be carry over to site2.
By doing so for few weeks you could lost your ranking but after some time you will get better rankings.

Not necessarily true. If this were the case, I'd buy expired domains with xxxx+ inbound links, then 301 redirect to my site, thus giving me xxxx+ backlinks a year for around $8. Not really going to happen, is it?
