When will Huck drop out?

Since we have a when will Ron Paul drop out thread, I would like to ask the people who are bashing him there when their favorite candidate, Huck, will drop out. After a poor performance in South Carolina he no longer as much steam left from Iowa and it is clear that he is even losing his beloved evangelical support to McCain. Huck is also receiving a lot of scrutiny for things like comparing the constitution with the bible and of course his non-existent knowledge of foreign affairs.

With less money than Ron Paul, I would say he should be considering it more than RP. So when is it coming?

If he can't win Florida, I think the Christian Right will move to Romney. The only thing that block likes more than a Preacher, is a winner and I can't see them supporting McCain or Giuliani.

Ha, the Christian Right voting for a Mormon isn't going to happen. I think they'll stick with him to the end

Well, if you look at it, he hasn't picked up barely any delegates since Iowa. If he doesn't come through in Louisiana or Florida, the latter of which is a winner take all state, then he's going into Super Tuesday in at best 3rd place, and possibly 4th or 5th.

The Christian Right might even shift to McCain. They don't vote for someone they don't think can win.

His one wildcard is, if he keeps his coalition together, he could make a move for a VP spot at the convention, because it will be brokered short of McCain getting a clear path through Super Tuesday, which I don't see any of the others allowing.

This isn't an anti-Huck post either. It's how I see it if I was an analyst for his campaign. Right now, his coalition can help him in Arkanasa, Georgia and other southern states, but only if he can keep it together.

Different tone than the RP thread, of course some of us are capable of a higher level of discourse than others.

True he hasn’t picked up any delegate but then again most of the voting was In the northern states, Michigan, New Hampshire, not really christen conservative strong holds and in a place like South Carolina he did very well with christen conservatives

    Exit Polling for South Carolina.

I don’t see Huckabee winning Florida, that state is up for grabs between Giuilani and McCain more likely to go to McCain since he won in South Carolina and will have the momentum going to Florida

Exactly, and with that loss any momentum he had left from Iowa will be lost. With no money and no momentum + bad press coverage he is bound to do bad on Super Tuesday.

Rumor going around is that Huck might be positioning to be McCain's VP. That would help bring the social conservatives on board, without whom, McCain has no chance of winning the general election.

If people think RP is polarizing in the GOP, then these two guys are the next most polarizing candidates.

lol, nice prediction. I didn't state an exact date, but I have said that Huck will be the next to drop out and a little bit after that Giuliani will too.

I think he will stick it out through Super Tuesday. The talk of him trying to position himself as a VP candidate makes sense. It also probably makes sense for someone like McCain to select him as VP as well because McCain will have a hard time getting the bible beaters on board in the general without some help. At the same time having Huckabee as VP may hurt McCain's chances with the independent voters he'll need to beat Clinton or Obama.

He won't be going anywhere until after Super Tuesday, so there's no cause for false hopes. That's probably when RP will drop out. The good news for Ron Paul is, he may actually be able to take another fifth place in the upcoming primaries. If for no other reason, than by default ;)

    Take that.

I'll take that and raise you! Who are "we?" Iran?

Ron Paul has an incompetent and is dealing heavily with all his past racial newsletters. No amount of money is going to save him. He's a political liability and has no chance. Even waiting for others to drop out, and RP will still finish last.

Huckabee is not out of money. He's simply cutting back to manage more effectively. He'll be around until Super Tuesday. If that goes well, he'll be around a lot longer. Ron Paul could stay in the race permanently, he'll never muster more than what he has right now...which is about nothing.

You have got to be the most strong headed individual I have ever run across. I can only imagine how most people in real life deal with you, my guess would be they just avoid you!
