Is Google Starting To Fade Away?

    Here's a disturbing news I read today:

Nielsen's latest search-tracking numbers had good news for Microsoft and mixed news for just about everyone else. According to Nielsen, Microsoft had a small gain in search traffic, edging up to 13.8 percent of the total U.S. market in December from a previous 12-month high of 12 percent.

Google and Yahoo saw their shares of the U.S. market drop to 56.3 percent and 17.7 percent, respectively.

    No,

If the drop was only on Google's share and there were increases for both Yahoo & MSN I would maybe consider what your saying. This isn't to mention the fact that this link you provide has no cites or sources and seems to be an amature blog. I hope this isn't your site attempting to link bait.

    Google will never faid away.

Probability suggests that MSN would fade away first since they started mainly as a OS provider, not for search.

There is usually only room for 2 competitors per industry while the others pick the scraps.

    Walmart & Target / Scraps = Kmart
Best Buy & Circuit City / Scraps = Prob been eliminated
Office Depot & Staples / Scraps = Office Max
Coke & Pepsi / Scraps = RC Cola
Marlboro & Camels / Scraps = Everything Else
Burger King & McDonalds / Scraps = Wendys, Checkers, WhataBurger, Sonic, etc..

It has nothing to do with the popularity of Google. It's the US economy thats hurting.

Did you intentionally leave out this part of the article:

"While Nielsen recently changed its accounting system of U.S. search, the firm pointed out that by any measure, Google has not seen a month-to-month decline of its market share since June."

That hardly sounds like a company fading away.

    Google will never go away.

When somebody says, "did you hear about X"

The other person says, "No, I'll go google it real quick"

Google, googling, google'ing, etc, etc have become common terms in everyday speech. No way Google will ever go under.

An interesting point is that in my brick and mortar business over the past two years, we have gotten a ton of business from Google, and even through we rank in the top 2 or 3 in yahoo and MSN for our major key words, in two years we have never gotten a new customer from them.

lol..history will repeat itself. One day another big company will be stronger than google in terms of what google is good at now. Just one day, it will definitely come.
