Hello all. Just put up my first little website and am going to start submitting to directories for links. I just need someone to clear up my confusion about directories and their benefits. I've come across quite a few directories that charge quite a bit of money, to submit a url, because the dir homepage is pr 3-4 or higher. Although the actual page my "featured link" would show up on is a pr 0. My question is what is the benefit for me to pay 49.99 (some higher, some lower) for an inbound link of pr 0? I just put up a site for nothing more than a hobby. Want to play the seo game just don't want to pay through the nose for inbound links. Thanks in advance for the help Bobby
Your best bet may be to keep an eye on new free directories in solicitations and announcements above, these directories tend to list faster being new.
it is possible to get some good free links on directories if you wanna look around for them..they dont all have to be paid as for what you think the pricing relates to well it would be a reflection of the traffic coming through the directory and its popularity for certain search terms in the serps..some webmasters would base it on PR but i think that doesnt alwas give you a good idea of value for your link best way to see if you are gonna get good value is view the cache date of the category you are submitting to if its been cached lately by google it means your site will be picked up soon too
Depending on the price that your paying you could always drop an email to the directories that your interested in, if some have a price tag and you would like to know more maybe ask them what they can offer you. If they can find out your needs and you can find out what they can provide it could make your promotional efforts more targetted, it naturally would take a little more time but may be worth the extra effort. As pointed out you may find plenty of free directories to use to.
If you are just looking for high PR links for your website from directories, you might want to check out some bidding directories where you can get on the high PR for small prices, only a few $'s sometimes. I have one in sig that you can get on PR3 homepage for $15, I don't know if that's in your budget or not, but bidding directories can be good if you are looking to get backlinks from PR pages and not no PR inner pages. Hope that helps
Submit to directories for backlinks/SEO and whatever direct traffic they provide. PR is a fickle thing and not something I would pay for; particularly for a hobby site. Also look for directories that specialize in the niche of your hobby site as they quite often can send more traffic then the general directories do. SEO and all that goes with it is for the long term. Short term, quickie fixes will cost you lots of money and often only yield short-term results.
we give free links on some of ours , depends on the sites. If they are spammy then forget it , if they are from seo guys placing 100 at time then they are dumped too but if we like the site we will give free links.oh i forgot to add ,please dont send me a pm asking me to give you free links ,that too will get the delete button lol
For a hobby website, you will get the best return traffic for your time by submitting to free directories specific to your niche and region. Here's a list: http://info.vilesilencer.com/?rock=niche.php
