How I Make $100/Night Doing ALMOST NO Keyword Research for my PPC Campaigns!

    Hey guys,

About 4 months ago I started getting into PPC. Yes, I'm using Adwords. To be honest, the method I'm currently using could be applied to any PPC advertisement. My personal preference is just Google's Adwords program.

I started to realize VERY quick that PPC was a hit or miss thing and that almost any minor flaw in your campaigns could be the difference between paying 2 cents per click with high conversion rates, or paying $1.50 per click with cruddy conversion rates.

The general "rule of thumb" when your setting up a campaign is having a "control". You want to start out with 2 ads running with similarities both referring to the same niche. You can set up a small daily budget for something like 5 bucks or whatnot, and then see which one converts... and which one doesn't. The one that converts or does the best will be your "control". You will then set up another ad that is only a slight variation of the control -- and see which one does better. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. This way, you are constantly improving and you have solid results as to what converts and what doesn't.

Elementary, right? Well this is where I'm going to go into detail about how I personally make MINOR adjustments in my ads to almost double, triple, and sometimes even quadruple my return on investment.

Whats the key to success? KEYWORD RESEARCH! .... "Yes, Relient, we know that.. we aren't stupid". I realize you aren't stupid but just take a second and bare with me.

    ----

Ad Example: Selling a guitar ebook.

    Learn to play guitar!
    Bla Bla Bla
    www.yoursite.com

Keywords for this ad - "guitar", "learn guitars online", "electric guitars".

    Ad Cost: $1 per click.

    ----

This is your typical Adwords ad. Now what is wrong with it? Nothing if your willing to pay $1 per click with a crappy conversion rate.

How do I know that ad would get a crappy conversion rate? Because the traffic IS NOT TARGETED! For example; if I wanted to get a guitar tab, buy a guitar, or even just learn about guitars for the fun of it... what would I type into Google? Probably something along the lines of the keywords in the ad above.

Starting to see where I'm going? Keep reading...

Say that the person clicked on your ad... YOUR HAVE WASTED $1 OF YOUR MONEY! Why? Because that person that typed in "guitar" is NOT going to want to purchase your article ebook! Lets all be honest... if you wanted to purchase an article ebook and you were any kind of DECENT Google searcher... would really type "guitar" into the engine to purchase something?

The answer is no! The average user would type something like "learn to play guitar online" or "best resources for learning guitar".

Let me let you in on a tip I picked up over the months... it's not a complicated tip and most of you may know about it - but your ads will cost LESS per click if you use longer keyword terms!

Most people think "Well why would I do that? Longer terms means less searches..."

BACK UP A SECOND! Your exactly right, BUT, lets look at our sample advertisement from before... you were getting THOUSANDS of searches but VERY low conversion rates. So maybe the problem is not about how many searches your getting, but more about the fact that your audience is not TARGETED enough! What does that mean?

Well, it means that you can spend MORE on a lot of searches with low conversion rates, OR you can spend LESS on less searches, with HIGHER conversion rates because somebody who searches "the best online guitar ebooks" is more likely to buy a product than somebody who searches "guitars"!

It took me a while to REALLY get a grasp on this concept. It's reverse thinking and it's something you have to get used to. More searches is not always better... it's the quality of the traffic your driving to your pages.

Anyway, now that we have that out of the way... lets move on.

The next challenge that I faced after really getting a grip on the whole "longer keywords are better" deal.. was the fact that some of the keyword phrases I cam up with weren't getting searched often enough to make sales!

Uh oh! Does that mean our plan backfired!? I mean... people actually have to be SEARCHING for your keyword phrases in order to get conversions!

So after doing some research... I found out about some online tools where you can buy these services (usually $30-$100 a month) where you can actually input your keyword phrases into their system.. and it tells you how many searches per day that the term gets. This QUICKLY made a HUGE spike in ALL of my projects as far as sales and time goes. I was able to quickly and easily see what gets searches, and what does not. It enabled me to be able to skip the whole entire "trial and error" process & just skip to the easy part. Time is money you know!

So this is where I started to realize that the $80 a month I was paying for these services was a thorn in my side. One morning I woke up realizing I had made $120 in sales just overnight... and 30 minutes later I was charged with my bill to pay for my keyword service. This was a HUGE bummer...

So I got to work, trying to figure out an easier way to do my keyword research for my PPC ads.

So GUESS WHAT? I found the answer to my problems! It's a small tool that lets me quickly search my terms to see what is getting searched in google, msn, and even yahoo. It was a ONE TIME payment! But guess what else? I have legal rights to redistribute it to the public for an even lower price than what I got it for!

So that's my story. I wanted to share some basic tactics to make your PPC ads run MUCH more efficiently. I now make a steady $100 a night using and improving on all the tactics I explained in this article. Below is a link to purchase my keyword research software for 6x less than what I bought it for, and it's a one time payment (instant download after payment of 9usd) that will benefit you for the rest of your internet marketing career. I'm not one to be a "shove a product down your throat" salesmen.. so if you do not wish to get this software THATS 100% OK! I just hope you befitted from the basic tactics I explained and I would love to hear some feedback from you guys. Cheers!

Is it just getting the keywords from google? The screenshots also shows msn, and for some odd reason yahoo is blanked out.

It check your keywords search rate & generate new keyword phrases.

The searches are based on a per day basis from Google. So for example if the phrase "best laptops" says 100 searches.. that term is getting 100 searches a day in Google.

The displaying of Yahoo and Msn's results are just an added feature that a lot of people like. I blanked out Yahoo because I don't want to give away EVERYTHING just in the screenshot... you have to purchase the program in order to get full benefits.

Just a quick note. I'll be removing the software from the market as soon as it reaches it's 50th purchase. (I don't want to over sell it). I have received several purchases so far from users here at DP, and had positive feedback via email.

So if your wanting to pick up a copy, you might want to do it ASAP. You can use the link I provided at the end of the post. You will recieve an instant download after purchase.

Again, software like this normally doesn't come as cheap as I'm offering it for... so jump on the offer while you can!

Anyway, it's about 1:30am in my parts.. so I'm off to sleep.

    Cheers,
    Relient

Edit - If you haven't read my whole post on optimizing your PPC campaigns, I highly suggest you do so! It's got some great information for the average/intermediate PPC person. Over the course of the last 2 days I have actually started to hit the $200 a day mark using & expanding on the methods I talk about in the main post. =D
