Hey guys We are running this webmaster forum now for a little bit more then 6 months! This month we started to monetize it to cover the costs! As you can see we serve banners in the header and on the bottom! Do you have any tips or strategies to make more out of this?? Every comment is appreciated!
are those banners linked to affiliate programs where you get paid per purchase or just impressions? Also you're banners might do better if you didn't have so many
the banners are not linked to affliliate programs! They are sold to private advertisers, some of them wanted it to point to a affiliate! the links may look weird, but thats because I use OpenAds for statistics! You think there are to many?
Hmm, you already seem to have banners pretty nicely set up. Couple of things came to my mind: 1) You could consider putting "featured listing" section to the LEFT side of your site (might not make much difference, but try it) 2) The top header banner things take quite much space... I was wondering if you could make it bit thinner or something (not necessary - just something that came to my mind) 3) you could sell links to your footer at some point 4) you could try putting automated replies that show google ads 5) last but not least... you could consider paid membership option when the userbase grows. EDIT: people posting fast... I think there's not too many banners. I think those fit pretty nicely and aren't that irritating.
I have heard that some "inline ads" works good in forums. I dont have forum of my own so I havent tested it by my self.
Thanks for the tips Game Producer! About the adsense, we give 100% to the members! That way they can also profit from 9mb (at small scale) The link selling in footer, wouldn't that hurt the PR?? we could eventually loose all PR that way I guess.. Paid membership is a great idea if the member base is 10 times as big hehe! About the banners... they are normal size at 468 x 60.. can't make them thinner..
I would like you to see my famous 6 tips article it will surely help you.. http://cyberspirits.blogspot.com/2007/06/blogger-tips-n-tricks-to-drive-more.html
"u" isn't proper English, and it isn't even consistent. Sobour? Does this article bring any valuable information that could help someone monetize a webmaster forum (or anyone else for that matter)? No. Stop whoring your blog.
I think its fine as it is... maybe making the sidebar go throughout the forum might help sell some banners on it.
Yes it can... but so can selling any ads/links if you don't have nofollow in them. Well, in that case you need to get some traffic. Here's couple of posts for starters: How my site traffic went from 37 monthly visits to 14,657 monthly unique visits Story continues here
Thanks for the links Game Producer!! Currently im not using nofollow! I thought it would not harm my pr because it are banners... right?
Features Links sounds like a great idea to me, especially for a forum. Other things you could consider are incorporating upgrades for members i dont know how you could do this, but i do know some people do it. Perhaps a membership upgrade for the B,S,T section of the forum, or some sort of featured advertisements for example if you were wanting to sell your website on these forums, you could instead of putting it in to the bst section, get it featured at the side of the forum on every section for a fee of 5 dollars a month or something. Sell 10 spaces per month and thats an extra 50 dollars. Thanks Will.
