An article I've written about big bloggers and... bad grammar, strangely enough! No point in me explaining it, title explains itself. Link: Big Bloggers, Bad Grammar Take a look if you want
I doubt most bloggers have editors. Hard books would probably have horrible grammar if authors didn't have editors.
Big all small all comes down to how much useful is the content. After all they are not writing a novel.
Nah, bloggers with bad grammars can survive, it doesn't matter any more as long as they provide good tips and contents that their readers like. Anyway, the examples that you have pointed out have less grammatical and spelling errors compared to a lot of blogs out there.
I tend to find myself fighting hard to keep good grammar. I even try to avoid common things like prepositions at the end of a sentence. But then I always end up missing really big things like completely misspelled words, or sentences that make no sense because I rewrote them so many times that I totally screwed it up.
Personally, I enjoy more laid back blogs. If I see the blogger took the time to make sure ever apostrophe and comma was there, and made sure not to use any slang or internet lingo, I can tell the post is gonna be boring...
Agreed. My posts are, in fact, boring due to the fact that I am such a grammar nazi. That's why on my more important sites I get writers. On a technical level, I'm really a "better" writer...by MLA textbook type standards...but as far as wanting to read what I say, my writers are far superior. But I'm sure you can tell that just from reading my posts lol
Definitely not true lol! it just shows the blogger wants to present himself and his content as professionaly as possible. You can't judge it either way. Saying anybody who has a sloppy grammar blog must have amazing content is ridiculous and saying anyone who has a near perfect grammar blog must have boring content is also ridiculous. Depends completely on personality, experience, knowledge. Grammar is trivial, but still relevant. Personally I don't actually care. Just liked the catchy title and thought it was something worth posting about. I couldn't care less about bad grammar, but when somebody has a huge blog and is just pure lazy not even bothering to spell basic words right. It's just like they can't even be bothered to make the effort. Bit annoying.
I have a friend who is earning big bucks and he sucks in english. His blog is http://www.wm-home.com Just look at that bad english!
Yeh, I think it's fine if your actually not english or just bad at enlglish but with like Shoemoney it's just lazy lmao. It's just stuff like blatant misspellings etc. like how hard isit to use spellcheck!
the most important is your point was deliver to reader. reader are aware what the content she/he viewing
I am an atrocious speller...I use a spell check in my posts and blogs. In fact, I often use two (Firefox & Google). It's the least I can do... When I see a blog that *I* can notice spelling errors in, then that is a HUGE turn off and I often discount the entire site based on that one impression. Yeah, sometimes, that'll be fine, but not a lot. Grammar on the other hand, can be a different matter. I wont mind a relaxed feeling to a site/blog/article, but it better at least be standard English. I hate reading a site, then something strange gets stuck in the middle of it or when it's so far off the mark of how I write/read I have a hard time understanding it.
grammar is not so important as the manner of writing itself... I mean is the writer can explain and present his point in simple and comprehensive way then no problems at all!
Exactly. Makes a blog look unprofessional, on like film or purely personal blogs yeh who cares. But I'm referring much more specifically to Internet marketing. It's such a crowded niche with so many professionals that if you can't even use your own language correctly. On a basic level. Or can't be bothered to. You can't be that much of a perfectionist. Plus it just makes it harder for new readers. Unless you have thousands of dedicated readers like Shoe or Chow do. It can hurt you a lot, just casually being sloppy, just makes it harder for readers to try and digest what you're trying to communicate.
