I was wondering whether any of you would take up this offer, don't worry staff I am not spamming, or selling a product - just general research for an up and coming idea I have.

    So, here's the question;

Would you be prepared to pay for hosting at a price of $15/month for a host which gives away generous hosting plans, with vBulletin installed for every customer on their server (free of charge). The customer would be in no contractual agreement to stay with the hosting provider, so they could come for 1 month and then leave. The customer would also be able to take out the 30 day money back guarentee if they were not satisfied with the service. And all this service with great customer support, and no setup fees.

The vBulletin obviously won't be given to the customer if they leave, but as long as they stay the price will always be the same. We would also allow referals to gain cash through customers you send to us too. Then hosting would also be free for you to use like any other host, except you have your own genuine vBulletin forum installed.

If you think you would take up such an offer please answer the poll genuinly and post your comments, I will gladly give reputation to everyone who does so as I consider this research very important if I am to launch my idea.

    Thanks in advance guys :).

you are basically selling vbulletin for 15$ a month with host ?

if calculated its cheaper than buy vb i think but personally i would rather buy vbulletin myself and buy a hosting plan.

somepeople would go for it for sure.

If you work out $15 yes it is cheaper to buy vBulletin, but then you haven't added hosting costs. We have combined the hosting and vBulletin costs and put them into monthly payments. But I remember when I was younger and couldn't afford a vBulletin license fee, I would of loved for a service like this, it would of been easily affordable. So that is why I am trying to roll out such a service if you understand what I mean.

Is that legal? I don't think vBulletin allows that, but don't take my word. I haven't read their terms of service in over a year.

no its legal. I believe there is a site that already does this, and as long as you buy each license, then it isn't a problem.

www.forumdrop.com and I remember people asking over at vbulletin.com and they said yes it's legal because they bought every license.

Note: after buying a few licenses, you get discounts, and eventually reduce the cost for new licenses.

Yes I know, we will update servers and move more resource hogging customers on to different servers. We would also sell VPS, Reseller, Dedicated vBulletin hosting for people such as DP for example.

Yes I have contacted and consulted with their staff and management.

Yes but they support theirs with adverts as far as I can see (correct me if I am wrong), we provide the vBulletin and they are free to use it how they wish, without our adverts.

well an owned license is 160$

as i said, "personally" but then its a good idea.

you could do like after a year or 2 with the plan the client get th e license or something. and input free things to get people to stay with you as a client.

I have considered giving the first month free (if they choose to stay for two months), so they would basically pay for one month and get 2 instead. Also I have considered a giving free domain to customers to use once they signup. I have some other incentive ideas I could use too.

Not really I think it is a pretty simplistic business structure. But then again, I don't know yet, this research will pretty much decide whether I do it or not.

    Good to hear :).

I would consider it. But I must first weight the pros and cons.

This is EXACTLY what I thought the main problem would be, sounding too good to be true. So you think once I build up a reputation people might come to me for vBulletin hosting?

Good to hear the pricing isn't too high or low.

Unfortunatly you're right, I probably wouldn't have a big customer base unless I ran this for quite a while.

And what would you feel these would be, please share them as I consider all help a great help :).

Thanks for your great responses guys, keep 'em coming.

No, you pay $15 per month and we install the license for you. No license fees or contracts.
