Lol, Dentists are the poorest guys :D
They work like skilled laborers only to be paid a meager of what other Doctors/Surgeons are paid.

If you knew the prices of the filling material, the instruments to put it in your mouth, the price of the dentist chair, RX and all the "peripherics", the cost of the assistant, the receptionist etc etc...If you knew all that, you would find that £43 it's actually quite cheap...;)

:) well one day for you maybe. ;)

True, i imagine that all adds up, plus paying the wages of the dental assistants, receptionist etc, good point.

And things like electricity bill etc

I didn't even mentioned half the things...
There are really lots of fixed bills, people have no clue what it takes to run a dental clinic.

I agree, its easy for me or anyone to say bloody hell that was expensive but as you point out theres various expenses that we dont see that will cut into profits.

And i guess the cost to become a dentist in the first place.

All these things are ok when compared to the lab charges.
And above all the physical trauma a dentist undergoes while sitting on a dental chair (more than the patient i can say :p)

I am having a cantilever bridge done for tooth 10 I believe. It is being bridged to tooth 9. I hope these numbers make sense. After a few days with the temporary in now. The gums where the missing tooth was have started to unswell and I feel a very very small space between the fake tooth and gums. Well not an open space, just not so snug anymore. I can feel air and saliva jet threw over the top of the fake tooth when I say my S’s and F’s. I guess my question is when I get the permanent ones put in will it fit more snug between the gums and tooth and not allow the air to jet threw. At least not so much. It tickles my lips and gums with little spit bubbles as air and saliva jets through and it also affects my speech. Question two: a little bit more important question. Since it is a Cantilever bridge, will it cause and kind of torque pressure against the capped tooth?

With the temporary one now I can feel a little twisting pressure when I rub my tongue across the back of the teeth as well as when I pucker my lips. Any info will help. I am sure the labs take into account the gums receding, I just want to make sure. The torque pressure problem concerns me more right now. If feels really weird. By the way, Biting pressure seems fine right now, it's twisting that feels uncomfortable. My dentist seems to be on top of it. It’s just I don’t want to continue with all these stupid questions. I have already been a pain in his rear the last few days. Beside I want to get somebody else’s opinion.

    Hi,

I am having dental work done and I just want a second opinion.

I recently had a three tooth bridge put in which anchors on two teeth leaving the middle tooth (of the 3) with no contact with my gums. I am going back to ask the Dr. to redo this or readjust this to fit snug up to my gum line because A) it looks bad with a dark space i am self concious of my smile. B) Food gets caught in it making for poor hygiene. C) air coming through the gap causes my other teeth to feel a freeze effect. This is extremely uncomfortable.

Am I justified in asking the dentist to redo this for me? It cost me alot of money and I love my Dentist but I must insist that this is corrected.

    Thanks!

I must say, you have had a bad day with your Dentist.
The work done according to your statement is very poor and i am scared you would have to go for a complete redo of your bridge.
