Is there any new SEO tactics out there

Generally the SEO foundation are all the same .... meta tags, keyword density, crawler frdly, good content, link exchanges and so on.

However I was wondering if there are other insightful ideas that are out there that haven't been spoke of in the past. As far as I know the trend now gears toward social bookmarking, blogging, social networking and so forth.

Are there others we haven't looked at or anyone that are not too selfish to share their opinions. I am very interested to gain more insights.... hope you are willing to share.... :):):)

    1. Link exchanges are not that great of SEO value, one-way links are the best inbound links you can get. Those inbound links should be from sites that are directly related to yours.

    2. Keyword Density is useless, some sites rank well for keywords and only display the keyword once on their site. By writing content in natural human form the SE crawlers will pull out the correct keywords and know what your site is related to.

    3. Meta Tags aren't read by all crawlers, Google doesn't even acknowledge the keyword tag anymore, it sometimes won't even use your description tag if it doesn't match your site correctly.

    4. Social Bookmarking is good for traffic, not SEO. Most popular and respectable social bookmarking sites use nofollow in their outbound links which provide no known SEO value to your site.

Well I mean there are a ton of legal and illegal things that you can do...if you want to drive a ton of traffic to your site, you could get one of many programs on the internet that spam certain social networks.

Other than that...submitting your site/blog/whatever to any number of blog social networks:

Try WikiPedia for a list of social networks. Type in List of Social Networks

not sure if you are saying no blackhat, but I know of people that are experimenting with various google bombing and other off site linking schemes to damage competitors rankings therefore helping one's own sites go up in the ranks

google only denies that it is possible to a certain extent, their vagueness on some parts of the issue seems to leave open the possibility that it is possible to damage a competitors site rankings by certain linking schemes
