Selling a Site, but not providing anything

Providing Referrals, Traffic, Revenue, and etc. People have to pm you to get it

    Whats the advantage to this?

I see it all the time, but is there any advantage, I know Sitepoint requires the URL

A member pming you for the URL does it mean they want to buy it, does it? Constant pming people when 90% of the people who see thew URL won't post or pm you about it anymore.

It seems like a lot of time wasting imo, or am I just not seeing something?

It's very simple and there are a few reasons.

    1. Because they do not want their site, or idea slammed in the case of public opinion. It something is shaky, or questionable, people will probably call them out on it. Many boards have members to take great delight in slamming people. Rightly, or wrongly.

I am sure it's more easily to dazzle noobs in private, then putting more thoughts in their head when you have vets asking for more clarification, and questioning their claims.

    2. It's a simple ploy to get you to keep their post on the main page. People keep bumping it, and saying, "PM me details". So if you make your post as vague as possible, and so tempting that any noob might take interest. It keeps you popping up on page one.

This is how many posts manage to stay on the main page day after day without getting hammered for "bumping threads". Which is a mod personal favorite. So some crafty folk have found a work around to keep the noobs popping it for them.

Too much work for you?? Who have interest in deal - you or buyer? If you then you need work hard to sell your site even for 10*monthly revenue cost.
