Do Blogs Outperform Sites In SERPs?

    Hey,

A few weeks ago I created a new page on a regular site. I built links to it. Optimized it well. Everything was good.

I then placed a link to the site from a blog of mine.

Both the blog and site were indexed quickly and showed up 1st page in serp 4 the lt kw.

After a few days the site dropped out of the serps, but the blog remained.

The site has quite a few backlinks. The blog has none.

The site has tons of content. The blog has hardly any.

The blog is still on 1st page in serps, despite the fact that it has zero backlinks and hardly any content.

The site is still not in the serps, despite the fact that it has plenty of backlinks and tons of optimized content.

I know that sandbagging may be coming into play with the new site.

I know that pinging may have helped the blog.

Now the question: Should I stop playing with regular sites, and start focusing on blogs since they do better seo wise?

    Or am I missing something?

Thanks for reading guys. Any help would be great. The blog was a free wordpress blog by the way.

    :)

Blogs and similar websites score top rankings and Good Page Rank within a short period of time. The reason behind this mystery is Google's Algorithm. Google specifically gives importance to those websites which update their content on regular basis.

This is the reason why most of the blogs are scoring PR > 5. A normal website might take 8-12 months to score good PR, but blogs and other websites have managed to score good rankings and PR within a short span. :)

Says who blogs outperform static sites in terms of SERPs? The only difference between blogs and static sites is that the content updates more frequently with blogs (if you got intentions to blog). But if you write about couple post, and forget about the blog it will be the same.

I've been experimenting lately with my site. I am coming more and more to the conclusion is what matters most is visitor traffic and the amount of time visitors spend on a site - as well as the frequency of updates. I think Google is collecting an enormous amount of site traffic from the toolbar and Analytics, and is beginning to use this data in its SERP algorithms.

What do you think would happen to a site that also has a blog as a subdomain of the original site? Would that help it rank in SERPS?

Blogs do not out rank websites, websites do not out rank blogs. It is all based on quality content, your asking a rendudent question. The reason blogs index faster is the fact they are complete, no building a standard website completes it before uploading it to the webserver.

If you complete a standard website before every uploading or registering the domain name you'll get the same quick indexing that blogs do, trust me. The fact incomplete standard sites usually have dead links is the reason for the delay in full indexing.

Both are equal in terms of SEO. The site structure of a blog is fool proof which is why they are easier to maintain. Also user generated comments are another benifit.

Google loves fresh updated content & that is the reason they score well in the serp's game. But the point is that it should be updated on a regular basis.

the only time a blog outperforms in serps is if you are creating a new site. Google gives more credit to a blog at wordpress or blogspot than a site with a newly registered domain name. Google starts giving more credit to a domain after about a year.

Whoever told you blogs perform better SEO wise are wrong. A regular content based site can perform just as well as a blog, it really depends on what you are looking for. Maybe blogs cover your keyword more often than a regular content based website would or visa versa.

Instead of considering whether to go blog or regular site based, consider instead that they both are generally the same with different purposes. One isn't going to outrank the other because they are the same thing.

Yeah websites do not out rank blogs, you should try to post great content. And start focusing on your blogs don’t worry Google will definitely index it.

Basically we must understand what SE’s objective behind providing their service. To provide Quality information is the primary one. I had noticed G gives more credit to Blogs than a normal website though the content is almost same.
And practically its true also, we get more quality information on particular subject by blog compare to a normal site.
I advice you to start a blog on subdomain of a site which had been drop. It will definitely help in your SERP.

There is no big advantage of using blog script in terms of SEO. Regular websites can rank well in Google. RSS feed could be a factor for SEO, but it's still small. *This used to work well in Yahoo!.

Another popular question is something like "blogger blogs can rank well in Google?". There is no advantage of using specific script for just SEO purpose unfortunately.

I respect the heck out of all you guys, but please do me a favor and read what I wote.

I had a regular site (just a month old) that had a buttload of content, and some nice backlinks. I had a new blog that was crap with almost no content and ZERO backlinks. Both listed 1st page in serps quickly. The regular site dropped out serps in a few days, the dumb blog with NOTHING is still first page.

After reading this, how can anyone say that the google algo is not giving prefernce to a blog on a wordpress domain????????? What am I missing?????

Here is my guess that some of you skirted on: a new static site is treated like an ugly stepdaughter for a good while (year?). After google sees that she won't bite, maybe google will give some love.

Maybe my analogu is retarded, but you get the drift.

It just sucks to work on a site and have it sandbagged (or whatever the hell happens) so quick. Put zero time in a blog that has chit for content andn google loves it.

To those that said to put a blog in subdomain of regular site, please tell me how to do that. Please.

To those that said it has something to do with fresh content, not in my case here. the regular site had fresh content daily. The dumb blog has a total of TWO posts, that said almost nothing.

Help me guys. What am I missing??

True only for new sites. After a year or so it will be the other way 'round. Focusing only on blogs would be wrong, if you keep updating your regular site, you will have a solid long-term basis that would eventually give you good results.

I am so used to results in hours or days. The thought of having to wait a year kind of makes me sick. Why the hell is Google doing this? Why do they think that blogs are anything but spam farms????

Whichever site has more backlinks will rank better.
