The point of article marketing through article directories is to get the backlink from the site that has reprinted your article. In each case the site should attribute the article to you and should ensure the link is active on their page.
I wouldn't let it put you off article marketing - it does work. Most of the publishers who pick up your article will abide by the rules. I too have a few that haven't and I can't trace the blog or site owners for various reasons (privacyprotect.org being a major reason) but I haven't let it stop me. I need the links.

Why don't you email those people you found using your articles unethically, and kindly remind them to put your name and links up? You could also remind them that using your content without giving credit could possibly warrant a ban from all major search engines and that you'll be checking back with their sites from time to time. That is enough to get most people to either take your stuff down or put your links right up there ;)

    Hey PJ,

why don't you find out who their webhost is and submit a complain about the website right there?

Another way would be to leave a comment on the blog, trying to get the attention of the blog owner. Especially Splogs (spam blogs) don't receive many real comments, so I'm sure the owner would check it out.

    Hope that helps,

    -Dave

Serioulsy man, don't sweat it. There will always be a few suckers swiping your stuff unethically. Their sites won't go a long way with that kind of work behind it. One thing about the Internet, the degree of your your ethics and integrity will be in proportion to the success you will get. Just keep writing and posting quality articles. The majority of people will post your stuff with your links and info included, and that's what you want. The ones that don't, probably don't stand a chance of long term success anyway.

I agree, it's not important. I don't put anything on article directories that I'm not prepared to have ripped off.

I did look at putting comments on the blog ones but none of them had comments enabled.

Do not make threats unless you plan to back them up.

    Common sense 101.

I totally agree with enigma007 . This is what happens when you publish content on the Net. Just try to remind yourself that although there will be people using your articles improperly, they're many more following the guidelines.

    Stating the obvious:

The Internet is one of the many mediums in life where imitation is -not- always the best compliment.

    Moral:

This happens to a lot of people. The most you can do is threaten them, but as stated above, it's fairly empty. The best thing to do is just ignore it. Most people will play by the rules anyway.
