Hello, I cannot understand why some of us do get penalised (for selling links ?) and some not ? Yahoo is Google's direct competitor, and dir.yahoo.com is PR7. They have that famous 300$ review(or rather inclusion ?! ) fee and they do well. No penalisation, no nothing. What is difference ? The design, the structure, the blah blah blah might be unique, but after all it is still a paid directory. Or it is just the huge amount of strong backlinks they have ? Can some of you explain ?
I wish i could also get this answer as to why some but not others... We try our best to comply then get slapped in the face... thx malcolm
Google trust the editorial integrity of yahoo directory even if the links are paid. This makes it a useful directory for them (all those links help google to better rank websites). Google would love that all directories have the same integrity as yahoo, this can only improve their results. It would be like all directory owners work for google as reviewers but with the crap directories lately and the PR chasing Google can no longer rely on many directories to do the reviewing for them.
Here's an example for you: a1searchdirectory.com/links/ is listed here in yahoo dir and it is penalised, PR N/A ! So you theory is not 100% sure, but I might be something... Anyway, I can ensure you that those guys from dir.yahoo.com like the money just as much as we do. I doubt that the quality is always a most to get listed there. But...if what you are saying it is ok...let's submit all to yahoo dir and wait for the next PR update to get our asses clean and back in business. Something smellz fishy around heeeere !
hyper I didn't have a look at the directory but 1 link from yahoo can not make wonders. It only helps like any other quality link.
What about the niche directories? Are any of them penalized? or only the general directories are getting penalized? Does anybody know any niche directory which is penalized?
Why would they penalize a directory just because it is general? fewer niche directories are penalized because they are usually more useful to visitors.
There is no one size fits all solution to anything that has happend, happening or due to happen. It would be like thinking that we all have exact clone directories in the sense that their exactly the same in everyway, all started on the same day. I wouldn't suggest trying to follow too much since the revelation a few days ago about aviva directory, aviva for some was seen as an "it" directory, to think that your directory problems and avivas for example are the same will only lead you to be more confused. So far MC is using Aviva as an example to influence the rest of you, you probably wont find out why some were/are penalised and why some are not, there are too many variations. Unless MC gives a personal consultation to each of you affected privately and breaks down what you have to do then take the rest with a pinch of salt. Im not saying ignore everything that was discussed since last year, but since when was another businesses solutions suitable for yours?
heheheh True.... A lawsuit could also stir up problems as many legit companies are being hurt by their actions and when you take into account the fact that they control 80% of the webs traffic then im sure any Federal judge would be inclined to see the light in a different perspective now compared to 5 years ago.. But then again who knows .... just try and adapt to changes is the best solution at this time thx malcolm
US judge is about fairness and equality to All not about being bias due to companies product or usage off and about the "argument" which was brought to his/her court room. This isnt Canadian judges where taking about either lol thx malcolm
that's because many ordinary people go on Google and search for "Yahoo Directory", and if it doesn't show up (and people know for sure Yahoo directory exists) it makes Google look like they can't find it. If it makes Google look like they can't find it, then people don't go to Google anymore, if people don't go to Google anymore, there is no revenue from Adwords...
Well not anymore... Unfortunately for Yahoo its now "down sizing and layoffs are in the horizen" as they will attempt to restructure much like Kmart did a few years back.... which came back with a vengeance after new leadership but i guess time will tell for yahoo and its management teams. thx malcolm
we are not Yahoo , not one directory represented here is remotely comparable Yahoo does not care what Google Page rank it gets , anymore than say Citibank cares whether Goldman Sachs awards Ctibank bank of the year or not These are titans, an we do our selves a favour by never ever comparing to yahoo until we're also a Billion dollar companies
True, I am to read many articles on Google being questioned. I am to think it to be only a matter of time for succesful lawsuit.
