Is it good to implement this Idea to Stop Phishing PMs?

This is getting crappier and stupid. We cannot even stop them from PMing such messages.

Should DP disallow members to send PMs untill they get around 25 posts or something? Then they will have real difficulties to post and spam via PMs. Think yourself, Make 25 posts and then make an attempt to send PMs and get banned, make new account and do the same. Its a pain to post 25 and then spam and get banned immediately. This will stop PM spams a bit. Now, if there is no limit, they just have to create another account that takes hardly any time and start spamming.

If you think they will spam in posts and get 25 posts, then its not a problem, posts from a user can get deleted in a single click and if some mod is browsing, spamming can be seen right that time, he may even get banned before he sends PMs...

The emails I got were from members with 50 posts so I don't see how this would fix it, but a minimum post count would make sense before you can send a pm.

i also got a pm coming from geme today. best thing to do is logout and then relogin and change your password. the phishing site might got a cookie grabber or something that can be used to login using your user id.

Yeah, disabling PMs for newbs would help (and prevent this whole thing, because the system was started by newbie accounts I think).

More mods would be a plus, but most webmasters should realise it is a phishing attempt - who doesn't look at the address bar of a noob PM?

Hey, there is a difference between a noob and a newbie.
Also, not everyone that is new must be looked at as a possible infractor.
I'm a newbie here (not a noob) but I'm trying to do some honest business. If one would get a pm from me, and look at it as a possible phising attempt, it wouldn't be nice :p

I believe DP could benefit from the following

    1. Users must have a certain amount of quality posts before entering the buy/sell/trade sections.

    2. Users must have a certain amount of quality posts before the private messaging is allowed.

    3. Get some mods that will actually do the work to clean this place up. I know there are some good ones here
already, but not all of them.

    4. Put an end to all of the "reply in this thread and I'll pm you this...." Looks horrible

    5. Maybe create an initiation forum? Where a mod must determine whether or not a new member is granted
access to the rest of the forum

    Entering means?
They already need 25 posts to make a new thread in BST and also 14 days membership.

    2. This is what I am trying to say.

    3. Mods are already doing their best. The forum is just too big for the number of mods that are here. I can agree a bit, not all mods are great. Some are linient, some are too harsh. I won't say more or you'd say I am complaining lol :p

    4. Thats not right. When you are looking to buy links. What happens is you arent interested in PMing every single person you want the details from, so you just want the details, you post in the person's thread that PM me details. Its easier.

    5. That would be hidden and can already be discussed in the Staff section, hidden to registered users.

    1. Up it to 50, or 75

    4. I'm referring to the threads where the OP could just post the download link or whatever in the opening post, yet most make you pm them, or say some stupid phrase in the thread, etc. It's a waste of space.

    5. No. When a new member registers, they are only allowed to post in the "initiation" forum. Whether or not they are permitted access outside that forum is up to the "initiation mods"

They need a few more moderators to help enforce the new rules. Also, 100 posts until PM would be better!

Disabling PMs or even links for newbs gives a false sense of security...

If my account got phished and you got the PM from me, would you have fallen for it? What if it was from someone else you see post often?

I treat everyone equally here, and I don't trust any of you (lol).
