Just curious to get everyone's thoughts about the new vBulletin coming out somewhere around march. What do you guys think of it, regarding new functions and all that.

The beta is out already I think..... So some people might of already tried it. So what do you guys think?

I think it's crap. VB is becoming too bulky to maintain and has too many non-forum features now.

So your saying, it takes too much space and stuff. I like the blog feature thing though. But that's about it.

    I have the 3.7 beta
    I like it
It does have many features that you want and many that you don't.

But overall, well worth the new features it does have.
You don't need as many addon mods that take up needed lines if you have big traffic.

I guess that's what rectangleman is saying though. That the new stuff interfers with big traffics, makes everything slow.

If that's the case, thats no good.

But hey can I ask you like the interface. Is it basically the same?

Yeah I like that version more than the new 3.7.0.

The new one is trying to add more social feature to a forum.

    3.6.8 rocks, thats for sure.

3.7 will have a lot of bloat, which all should be bonus features which do not need to come with it (as in add-ons).

While I do plan on upgrading, I also plan on getting a new forum... my new one may go with a different platform because all that bloat will not be needed (or even wanted).

Can you just remove the special features. Cause you know the won't be updating 3.6.8 no more. Or will they?

This is starting to turn out like vista.

Actually all I want from 3.7 is the blog thingy. Thats it.

I have to agree. vB is becoming way too bloated. That's why I use SMF on my forums, because they keep it free of bloat. vBulletin just keeps trying to pack in too many unnecessary features.

3.7 is really great and my members like it. My server load is pretty normal, but I do agree it uses up more resources than most other free forums. But I'm willing to sacrifice that because vbulletin is simply the best.

You don't have to use all its features, disable the ones you don't want and its pretty easy to use. It helps alot of implemented things so you don't have to install some of the mods/hacks instead using vBulletins

Seems ok so far. Took awhile to get used to some of the new features though, but you can enable/disable them at anytime.

Ive upgraded to it, cant see a huge difference in it, but no problems yet so i cant complain.

Only thing i dont like is that there hasnt been many mods released for it yet.

It will only affect some modifications for 3.7 and when vBulletin 4 comes out, most of the mods won't work.
